Unleash manufacturing visibility, flexibility and speed: New white paper from Cambashi

Press release from: Critical Manufacturing

Cambridge, UK / Boston, USA - May 31st, 2012 - The independent research and analysis firm Cambashi released today a white paper explaining how realistic modelling enables a new generation of plant software, unleashing visibility, flexibility and speed.

The development of a new breed of MES/MOM solutions based on a “standard platform" - an approach that has been used with success in many other parts of the software industry – provides a breakthrough opportunity and the prospect of rapid advancement in terms of solution capability.

Instead of starting from the requirement and delivering a specific solution - which is the way most legacy software was written - the software provider starts with defining an architecture, or solution framework, in which they can deliver an almost infinite variety of solutions.

One company who has adopted this approach to create their cmNavigo family of MES solutions for High Tech customers is Critical Manufacturing. These solutions are inherently more capable than legacy systems and appropriate for High Tech manufacturers of semiconductors, electronics, solar panels, flat screens and medical device products or manufacturers whose products require multiple processes.

“If, as we predict, continued change is inevitable, the key question becomes how much effort and cost is required to implement each successive change as it occurs. This is absolutely a losing race for legacy systems”, state Bob Brown and Julie Fraser, the white-paper authors. “As part of the research activity we undertook to prepare this white paper we were invited to visit the Critical Manufacturing development centre in Porto, Portugal and to talk directly with a number of the recent customer wins. We were impressed by the range and depth of industry knowledge and solution expertise present in the management team and our conclusions on this point were reinforced by the opinions of the customers with whom we spoke.“ they add.
