Boomwriter Launches Biggest Global Writing Bee for Grades 3-8 Featuring Diary of a Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney and Newbery Medal winner Jerry Craft

Cambridge, MA – Boomwriter Learning, a Cambridge, MA-based education technology company offering school and home-based writing solutions, announced the start of the 2021 Boomwriter Writing Bee. This is the world’s largest writing bee, and this year it will feature Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and New York Times bestselling author Jeff Kinney as well as New Kid author and 2020 Newbery Medal winner Jerry Craft, both serving as the event’s Guest Authors.

From now through the end of April, teachers of students in grades 3-8 are invited to conduct their own classroom-based Writing Bee Qualifying session – completely free of charge – to determine the students who will represent their class this spring in the Writing Bee Finals while competing to become The 2021 Writing Bee Champion.

This year’s event is the fifth annual Boomwriter Writing Bee and will feature two of the most renowned children’s book authors, Jeff Kinney and Jerry Craft. Each will provide an original first chapter and accompanying illustration to serve as the inspirational writing prompts for the event. Using Boomwriter’s unique competitive group writing platform, students will write, share, read and vote to determine the rest of their class story with each class chapter winner becoming eligible to compete in the Writing Bee Finals.
