Susan Halsey Receives Greater Fort Worth Real Estate Council Founder’s Award

The Greater Fort Worth Real Estate Council honored Jackson Walker partner Susan Halsey with its Founder's Award during its annual meeting on April 26, 2012.

The award recognizes an individual who exemplifies the mission of The Greater Fort Worth Real Estate Council, which is “to be a unified voice for the commercial real estate industry, influencing action and supporting change to accomplish long-term job growth and enhance the quality of life in the Greater Fort Worth area.”

Ms. Halsey was one of the founding members and a former chairman of the Council, and her leadership has helped the organization grow and develop into a powerful force for positive change in Fort Worth. In presenting the award, Cypress Equities Senior Vice President Kirk Williams said of Ms. Halsey:

“Not only is Susan a deal-maker, but she is also a bridge-builder, a fence-mender, and a friend-finder. She is uniquely gifted at bridging old and new, holding to necessary traditions while keeping a keen eye on the latest market influences. She is blessed with the ability to see both sides of an argument and bring together a thoughtful resolution that facilitates an agreement. And she is able to do this with a true love of people, on both sides of the argument and both sides of the river.”

Those who nominated Ms. Halsey also praised her dedication to supporting the Council’s efforts and to advancing the industry and the region as a whole, calling her “the picture of Fort Worth class and an icon to the real estate community.”

“She has served in leadership roles to promote the real estate industry, she has advocated locally and in Austin for more intelligent regulations, and she has advised major clients on moving their headquarters or regional offices to the area, creating jobs, increasing ad valorem tax revenues, and, in the process, making Fort Worth a better place to live,” said one nominator.

Another nominator said: “Susan is the most humble, ethical, fearless, and selfless person that I know. I often tell her that I want to be her when I grow up.”

With over 25 years’ experience in real estate law, Ms. Halsey represents entities, individuals, and financial institutions in a wide variety of real estate transactions and financial matters. In addition to maintaining her own robust practice, Ms. Halsey is the managing partner of Jackson Walker’s Fort Worth office and chair of the firm’s Real Estate practice group, which includes approximately 40 lawyers located in six offices. She has been named a “Super Lawyer” by Thomson Reuters (2003-2004, 2009-2011), a Tarrant County “Top Attorney” by Fort Worth, Texas magazine, and a “2009 Power Attorney” by the Fort Worth Business Press. In addition to legal recognition, she is a past recipient of the YWCA “Tribute to Women in Business Award” in Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Business Press’s “Great Women of Texas” Award.
