Strong response from regional buyers on second day of Automechanika Middle East

Dubai’s total automotive trade rose by 13% in the first quarter of 2012 over that of the same period last year, un-derlining the healthy growth trend that is continuing in the Middle East region’s automotive aftermarket. Revealing the key figures at Automechanika Middle East yesterday (Wednesday, 23rd May) was Ms. Nassim Saeed Al Muhairi from the Department of Statistics at Dubai Customs.

Presenting at the Automechanika Academy on the second day of Automechanika Middle East at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Ms. Muhairi revealed that the total value of Dubai’s automotive trade in Q1, 2012 was worth AED 9.6 billion (US$ 2.6 billion).

Speaking after her presentation, Ms. Muhairi said: “The figures indicate that Dubai continues to figure prominently as the hub driving the growing trade in auto parts and equipment in the wider region. As demand continues to grow, we see increasing opportunities for international companies to benefit from Dubai’s key positional and logistical advantages.”

Reflecting the remarkable growth of the region’s aftermarket, both in size and scope, the ongoing 10th edition of Automechanika Middle East is 24% larger than last year and boasts a 26% increase in UAE exhibitors.
“Our exhibiting partners have played a significant role in Automechanika Middle East becoming the premier trade show for the regional industry,” said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “As we keep developing in step with our regional partners, we will continue to pay close attention to their feedback on various aspects of the show, fine-tuning it to cater more closely to the industry’s needs,“ he added.
“We are also proud to have been able to play a part in the development and modernisation of the industry. Over the years Automechanika Middle East has had a hand in bringing in many transformational trends and industry best practices into the region,“ Pauwels stated.
Automechanika Middle East 2012 is classified into five product groups, namely: Parts & Systems; Accessories & Tuning; Repair & Maintenance; Service Stations & Car Wash and Tyres & Batteries. Among the leading exhibitors showcasing their products and services within these sections include:

This is def-initely the leading automotive aftermarket trade show for us in this region.”
“We are looking at expanding our presence in the wider region and we find that Automechanika Middle East is the best way to reach our target market,” said Salvatore Coniglio, Export Area Manager for German company LIQUI MOLY, who specialize in motor oils, additives, car care products and chemically based technical solutions for automotive application .
Heading into the final day of its three-day run, there was a noticeable buzz around the show floor, with exhibitors busy handling requests and demonstrating products to large numbers of trade buyers and visitors who kept turning up in a constant stream throughout the day.
