Mr. Harinder Chhabra, the director of The Infinity School, participated in a panel discussion on the role of teachers in creating

December 2020, The Infinity School, Noida Extension.
2020 will be remembered as the year when the covid-19 pandemic remodelled global education, confining students within homes. This compelled schools to deviate from conventional academic standards and create sustainable digital solutions for delivering education uninterrupted. In this unprecedented event, education leaders worldwide turned to online platforms for helping students & teachers adapt to the new patterns of learning. Elets Technomedia (a technology & media research organisation) and DigitalLearning Magazine organised the 17th World Education Summit (WES 2020) in December to foster innovation & meaningful associations in education. Experts from different schools congregated to share their knowledge of changing educational scenarios at Asia’s biggest event on innovation in education.
Mr. Harinder Chhabra, the director of The Infinity School, participated in a panel discussion on the role of teachers in creating pedagogical environment. The Infinity School was one of the youngest schools to rank among the top five schools in Noida Extension, in two prestigious surveys (The Times School Survey and Education World School Rankings) towards the end of the year 2019. Mr. S. Naidu (Executive director, Pathways Schools, Noida), Mr. Y. Mahajan (Director, Lawrence Public School, Kangra), Dr. S.K. Bhattacharya (Director, N.K. Bagrodia group of schools, Delhi), and Dr. B.K. Sahoo (Founder, Sai International School, Bhubaneshwar) were among the group of panellists to participate in this online discussion.
Mr. Chhabra, an alumnus of IIM-Ahmedabad and an educator with several years of experience, spoke about the multifaceted role of teachers in schools. According to him, the responsibilities of an educator is beyond course completion, concept delivery, or helping students get high scores. He said teachers play a key role in "creating the right environment for learning" and "ensuring that students achieve both cognitive & non-cognitive learning outcomes". They help in building a nurturing environment where “children can learn from their mistakes and improve.”
Today, when learning is no longer confined to classrooms but has extended into homes, students have evolved into active pursuers of knowledge, and schools as centres of lifelong learning. In this scenario, a teacher's role is crucial to the socio-economic development of the society. They support students in developing critical life skills (like resilience, grit, independent thinking, etc.) that are important for survival. Teachers help students “discover their purpose, follow their passion, overcome challenges, improve mistakes based on the feedback received, and choose their career paths,” thus facilitating lifelong learning & individual growth.
Today, as the education industry is dramatically transforming, teachers need to reinvent themselves. Mr. Chhabra believes it is important for teachers to "focus on their personal growth, stay committed to the cause of constantly improving, and raise the bar for themselves," to help students set higher learning standards for themselves.
Prompted by the digital revolution, schools are gradually restructuring themselves and training teachers to adopt & adapt to new practices, forming a strong emotional bond with students, and understanding individual needs, learning styles, abilities, interests, etc. A pioneer in teacher development & capacity building, The Infinity School is the only school in Noida Extension with an in-house teacher training department that helps educators 'learn, unlearn & re-learn'.
By making changes at the grassroots, focusing on teaching quality, and nurturing development in the early years, The Infinity School aims to transform the current learning landscape. Click below to read more about the school.
