John Cabot University's Institute for Creative Writing and Literary Translation is delighted to kick off the Summer Institute Reading Series with a bi-lingual reading (in English and Italian) of the poems of Robert Hass. Hass has won the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and – twice – the National Book Critics Circle Award, once in poetry and once in criticism.

John Cabot will present a reading by poets Chad Davidson and John Poch. Chad Davidson holds a BA, MA, and PhD in English. He is currently Associate Professor of English at the University of West Georgia. His poems and articles have appeared in AGNI, Colorado Review, Hotel Amerika, The Paris Review, Prairie Schooner, Shenandoah, Virginia Quarterly Review, The Writer's Chronicle, and elsewhere. John Poch holds an M.F.A. in Poetry and a Ph.D. in English. He was the inaugural Colgate University Creative Writing Fellow, and now teaches in the creative writing program at Texas Tech University. He serves as series editor for the Vassar Miller Poetry Prize at the University of North Texas Press, and until recently edited 32 Poems with poet Deborah Ager.

John Cabot University’s Institute for Creative Writing and Literary Translation is proud to present two events featuring the Summer 2012 Poet in Residence, Billy Collins. JCU’s Aula Magna Regina will play host to “A Conversation with Billy Collins” on June 5th, while on June 7th, a poetry reading will be held in San Lorenzo in Miranda church, located beside the Roman Forum. Billy Collins is a Distinguished Professor of English at Lehman College of the City University of New York, as well as a Senior Distinguished Fellow of the Winter Park Institute at Rollins College. His work has appeared in a variety of periodicals including The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and The American Scholar. He is a Guggenheim fellow and a New York Public Library “Literary Lion.” appointed United States Poet Laureate 2001-2003.
