Improved Prospects: Ceresana Expects Growing World Market for Plastic Windows

12-07-2020 01:50 PM CET | Industry, Real Estate & Construction

Press release from: CERESANA

After more than ten boom years, the construction industry is spoiled by success. Even the corona pandemic has not yet had a great impact, since the order books are still well filled. However, the drastic measures to contain the pandemic will also affect the construction sector and its suppliers, albeit with a time lag. This is the third time that Ceresana has analyzed the global market for plastic windows used in buildings. The current study provides a quantitative assessment of the effects of the crisis and the magnitude and time frame of a possible recovery. Ceresana's analysts expect the demand for plastic windows to begin increasing again after two difficult years starting in 2022: they forecast average global growth of 2.6% per year until 2027.

Not Everyone Is Equal in the Face of the Virus

The future prospects of the construction industry are very much dependent on the varied reactions of individual states to the corona challenge: in Germany, for example, hardly any construction sites have been shut down, while construction companies in Great Britain, Austria, and Italy suffered from mandatory stops and are now at a competitive disadvantage. Supply chains have been interrupted and have to be re-established. Since many contracts are being postponed or are not being carried out at all, especially in commercial construction such as for new hotels, public tenders as well as the financial strength and priorities of state investors are now very important.

Economic Assistance and Climate Protection

The markets for plastic windows were already strongly influenced by national support programs to increase energy efficiency. A high proportion of the total energy consumption is used for the heating of buildings. The insulation of house walls or roofs is therefore often required. However, the best insulation is of little use if windows are not considered as possible thermal bridges. Modern plastic windows can make an important contribution to energy saving and environmental protection, for example by integrating special insulation cores directly into the window profile in order to reduce heat loss and thus the energy requirements of a house.

Current Market Data

The market shares of plastic windows are increasing in most countries of the world. In the context of "smart homes", they perform important tasks in automated ventilation, heat regulation, or anti-burglary protection. The latest study by Ceresana provides figures on the demand, production, import and export of plastic windows as well as information on revenues. In the context of this study, the number of window frames is the decisive factor, not the window fittings or glazing. The development of the individual construction segments is also examined in detail: new construction, renovation, as well as residential and commercial construction.

The Study in Brief:

Chapter 1 provides a comprehensive quantitative representation and analysis of the global market for plastic windows, including forecasts up to 2027. Key figures such as production and demand and revenues are presented for each region of the world.
Chapter 2 shows data on the production and consumption of plastic windows in 16 countries, also split into construction segments (new construction, renovation, residential construction, commercial construction). Key figures on import, export and revenues are also provided.
Chapter 3 lists company profiles of the most important producers of plastic windows, clearly arranged according to contact information, revenues, profits, product range, production facilities, profile summary, as well as product types and application areas. It includes detailed profiles for the 80 most important manufacturers.

Colorful world market: current Ceresana study on pigments
Around the world, green is considered the color of new beginnings, of growth, of life. However, finding truly "green" pigments is a challenge: cadmium, cobalt, copper and other heavy metals can be dangerous, while natural earth colors are less durable and more difficult to process. Nevertheless, the outlook for manufacturers and distributors of these small, coloring particles is predominantly positive: global demand for pigments will increase to around 14.5 million
Biobased insulation materials: Ceresana gives an optimistic outlook for the Euro …
Granulated cork, mats made from hemp, fleeces made from sheep's wool or even blown-in cellulose flakes: Biobased insulation materials are increasingly competing with mineral wool and plastic foam. Ceresana has been analyzing the market for insulation materials used for thermal insulation in the construction industry for 10 years. Now, for the first time, the market research institute is publishing a study specifically on the European market for insulation materials made
Sustainable adhesion: Ceresana report on biobased adhesives
Adhesives make many environmentally friendly products possible: lightweight car bodies and batteries for electromobility, insulation glazing for facades and insulating panels as well as corrugated cardboard packaging or simple paper bags. Increasingly, however, not only the end products but also the adhesives themselves are to be "organic" - in fact, more than 13 million tonnes are already produced around the world each year, and this figure is rising. So far,
Tear-resistant and flexible: Ceresana examines the world market for plastic film …
Stretching towards success: Plastic films get stronger and more transparent if they are stretched longitudinally and crosswise during production. The "biaxially oriented" plastics polypropylene (BOPP), polyethylene (BOPE) and polyester (BOPET) are processed into packaging, bags and sacks, shrink and stretch films, but also, for example, agricultural films, insulation material and industrial films. According to the latest Ceresana study on the global market for flexible plastic films, which is already the
