This week’s Logistics Bulletin reports on financial results from two leading UK-based 3PLs and a number of bolt-on acquisitions from around the globe. DC developments feature from a variety of manufacturers and 3PLs, again on a global scale. In the UK, Wincanton has reported strong continuing momentum in its UK & Ireland business, which more than compensated for difficulties in certain operations in Mainland Europe. Conversely, at Christian Salvesen, the performance of UK Transport operations was described as 'not acceptable', whilst the French and Iberian Transport businesses achieved good margins compared with their local competitors.

Elsewhere, DHL has inaugurated a new expanded facility at Kansai International Airport which will enable it to meet continued strong business growth in Japan. Saying in Japan, the Company has also reached an agreement to extend its logistics outsourcing contract with Fujitsu for five years. This agreement is the continuation of a long-term relationship that began with the acquisition of Fujitsu Logistics in June 2004.
