Press release from: SGS Consumer Testing Services

SGS Turkey has recently expanded its textile testing capabilities by adding further cutting edge testing technology.

SGS Turkey has recently expanded its textile testing capabilities by adding further cutting edge testing technology.

On November 24, 2011, with numerous business partners and SGS executives participating in the event, SGS, celebrating an eighth anniversary in its Istanbul laboratory, announced the expansion and service enhancement of its textile laboratory.

The opening ceremony symbolized a brand new chapter for SGS Turkey since its beginning in 1933. The SGS Turkey Business Manager Mehmet Cem Ozen, speaking at the opening ceremony for the new laboratory, emphasized the company’s commitment to quality and excellence services while talking of the completive market edge that comes from ensuring reliability, performance and product safety. He added: “We tried to expand our horizons and with the expansion of our service capacity we have achieved a huge leap forward. Now it is time for us to provide better and quicker service to our customers."

The expansion of the existing capabilities of the SGS laboratory will see textile testing (http://www.sgs.com/en/Consumer-Goods-Retail/Softlines-and-Accessories/Textile-and-Clothing/Testing.aspx) undertaken with the latest and most up to date Gas Chromatographs and Liquid Chromatographs, allowing SGS Turkey to provide world class services with greater capacity. As one of the relatively few independent textile laboratories, accredited by CPSC, DAkkS and UKAS to ISO 17025, SGS Turkey has become a symbol of reliability. The new facility offers a full spectrum of consumer testing services including physical and chemical tests performed according to international standards such as ISO, BS, DIN, AATCC and ASTM.

As one of the leading clothing exporters globally, Turkey has long been an attractive territory for exporting companies who are seeking global market access. With its close proximity to both Europe and Asia, it forms the crossroads of these two great continental markets. Turkey’s importance to the European market is such that in 2010, it was second only to China as the largest importer into the EU. With stable growth and favorable geographical positioning, Turkey’s Ministry of the Economy and the Turkish Exporters Assembly agreed a plan, known as the Turkish Exports Strategy for 2023 (http://www.economy.gov.tr/upload/strategy/strategy2023.pdf), which aims to make Istanbul an international fashion, fair and trade centre.

SGS Turkey is familiar with the changing local market conditions. The spacious new premises are able to serve clients on meeting diversified market requirements by adapting services to current market conditions.
