BRINGING ‘CHARACTER’ TO A DOWNTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD

PHOENIX, Ariz., December 1, 2020: Richie Moe III and Peter Kasperski, both together and separately, have been thrilling guests with memorable dining and entertainment experiences in Scottsdale for the past three-plus decades. Now, they are teaming up again to offer their creative wares to downtown Phoenix, expanding the dining and drinking options in the Roosevelt Arts District. Their goal is simple - bring ‘Character’ to the neighborhood.

Richie and PK first met in Chicago, where Richie’s Dad was Peter’s mentor. Richie helped Peter open both Cowboy Ciao and Kazimierz world wine bar, then went on to open Blue Note Cellars, Citizen Public House, & The Gladly. They have also owned and/or operated several more of Old Town Scottsdale’s most interesting establishments. The duo is now taking their wares to Downtown Phoenix, to introduce both CHARACTER Distinctive Dining and ALIAS, a modern speakeasy to the neighborhood.

CHARACTER Distinctive Dining is a modern expression of the American Dinner House. That being said, it maintains a constant connection to the history of ‘Fine Dining’, as well as the myriad influence of cuisine across the globe, oftentimes utilizing innovative cooking techniques. Housed in an early 1900s home and surrounded by a modern outdoor patio, CHARACTER serves dinner nightly, featuring an eclectic wine list and inventive drink list to pair with the ever-changing cuisine. Expect a memorable entertainment experience when you visit CHARACTER.

ALIAS is a fun-sized modern speakeasy tucked just in back of CHARACTER. While not a totally mystery to find ALIAS, the walk along the side and around back still gives nod to what a real speakeasy represents. Three nights a week, Richie and Chef Justin ‘Red’ Hauska offer a Molecular Mixology/Gastronomy dinner, pairing cocktails and food by way of science and whimsy (think of an entire 12 course menu manipulated by sound – and that’s just a tease). Following the dinners, ALIAS will morph into a Craft Cocktail bar from 9ish until 2am. In time, the Craft Cocktail bar may expand to additional nights.
