YourMD.ca Secures Financing and Launches Online Health Care Platform
Partially influenced by USA startups like Hims and Roman, the Edmonton-based telemedicine company YourMD.ca aims to provide Canadians with safe and easy access to basic health care and treatments.TORONTO, November 17, 2020 - YourMD.ca announces the launch of its digital health care and e-commerce platform after closing the doors on its latest financing deal. The Edmonton-based startup is designed to modernize Canadian health care and take the stigma out of health treatments for Canadian men and women by providing access to online diagnoses, treatment, prescriptions and delivery of medications for common lifestyle health concerns such as hair loss, sexual health, mental health and weight management, which will be made available in phases over the coming months.
”We aim to change the conversation of the stigmatized issues of lifestyle and wellness. We want to break down the barriers that prevent people from getting the information, tools and resources they need for mental, physical and emotional wellbeing, which is especially critical today in a post-COVID world of accelerating self isolation” YourMD.ca CEO and co-founder. "By making it easier for people to get diagnoses and prescriptions, we're removing the obstacles that prevent people from seeking care in the first place—whether that's feelings of embarrassment or even just the hassle of clinic wait times and pharmacy pick-ups."
Unlike other telemedicine services in Canada, YourMD.ca seamlessly leverages secure online forms, in-person/video visits and asynchronous secure text messaging to interact with patients, allowing them to receive convenient advice and treatment from licensed medical professionals. Our platform secures patient data and allows the YourMD.ca medical team to assess patients quickly, securely message patients for follow-ups regarding symptoms and prepare the right treatment plan for patients. Our YourMD.ca medical team also has the ability to issue a prescription virtually, which is filled and shipped by a local accredited pharmacy right to the patient's home.
Backed by licensed Canadian medical specialists, family physicians and pharmacists, YourMD.ca is committed to serving the lifestyle and health needs of all Canadians and to educate and increase awareness to destigmatize and encourage people to seek medical attention for something as common as hair loss. Patients can currently seek treatment for hair loss, but other lifestyle categories such as weight loss, acne, and mental health treatment will be coming in the near future.
