What: flower is a plant sensor with integrated watering function. In combination with an intelligent cloud platform and a free app for Android and iOS, flower forms a digital ecosystem for plant care.
Who: hûs+ is a smart home startup specializing in the development, marketing and distribution of Internet of Things technologies and products. Our vision is a smarter, greener world where every home minimizes waste of resources.
When: In May 2017 the idea for a Wi-Fi based smart home system was born. This was followed in February 2019 by a Scholarship from the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The company was founded in June 2020 and several prototype generations were created between September 2019 and July 2020. A patent application for the latter was filed in August 2020. A kick-start campaign will start in November 2020.
How: The relative soil moisture is determined by a thermal impulse depending on the cooling rate of the soil. This is compared with the values stored in the plant database. If water is required, the plant is watered according to the natural model using the integrated pump.
Why: Plants alleviate stress symptoms, increase well-being and boost creativity and productivity. Insufficient knowledge of plants (no green thumb) professional and private travel as well as forgetfulness lead to the death of many house plants. flower is a babysitter for plants and enables everyone to enjoy the benefits of plants effortlessly.
