Press release from: Ondray

November 14, 2020 - The team at Ondray handcrafted high-quality authentic wooden screen glasses from Bali, their campaign will be live on Kickstarter, on 12th January 2021.

Based in Bali, they wanted to tie in the Bali vibes into each design of each frame so that people will remember that Ondray is a passionately-designed screen glasses with high quality handcrafted woods, to put it in short their screen glasses are a fusion of traditional Bali craftsmanship, an authentic carved wood & the ultimate technology in modern lenses, a polycarbonate UV400 lens, which blocks out harmful rays from the screen and the sun. They have teamed up with an expert Balinese wood carver, Komang, who has mastered the craft ever since he was just a teenager to carve woods inspired from the beauty, the traditions, and the nature of the Balinese people. Not only are the frames created with high quality materials, they also elegantly designed each of their frames and their quality woods are finely-textured making it hypo-allergenic, so it won’t cause any irritation to the skin unlike plastic materials. The ideas behind the name of each frame was carefully thought of and are based on famous areas in Bali, the designed three frame styles that are in production: Canggu, Penida and Ubud. The Canggu frame was inspired by an area in Bali, surrounded by rice paddies, bars, beautiful cafes. The frame itself is made with thick dense ebony wood; its thickness of Canggu’s frame makes it sinkable in water, making it waterproof. The nose pad is one with the frame and is designed to fit on most nose sizes. The Penida frame was inspired by an island residing next to Bali, which is a hidden gem and a beauty, Penida is made out of Titanium making it durable and lightweight. The nose pad is silicone, which makes it comfortable and contours to the size of the nose. Finally, the Ubud frame, an area in central Bali where most tourists go to, Ubud has cafes and restaurants surrounded by rainforests and rice paddies, where people can have a day to themself enjoying the beauty of Bali. Similar to Penida, the frame is made out of Titanium and the nose pad is silicone making it comfortable and contours to the size of the nose.

The largest source of blue light is actually sunlight, however it also comes from looking at the modern screen around us. Eye strain caused by harmful blue light has a serious impact on people's health and wellbeing. Which is why the team at Ondray coated their lenses with high-quality UV400, that are designed to filter out blue lights from the screen of any computer, tablet or phone. Aside from their UV400 lens, Ondray comes with an optional customized polarized clip on lens, at which people can choose as an additional option at the end of their campaign.
“We know there are wooden glasses out there in the market, but we don’t get why they have to be really expensive. Our goal is to encourage people to switch from full-plastic glasses towards more eco-friendly glasses, hence why we created Ondray. We guarantee satisfaction towards our quality UV400 lens, authentic woods and stylish frame design” - Hendro, Creative Director of Ondray. Ultimately, they want to encourage people to switch from fully plastic glasses towards a more natural material, encouraging people to commit to the environment. With the world being in the bad situation that it is in with the pandemic and a very possible climate change crisis, they believe that if every company on Earth gives back to any positive way to the environment, there will truly be a change. Therefore, other than being eco-friendly, they have decided that for every pair of Ondray glasses sold, they will be giving a dollar back towards non-profit organizations in Bali, these includes: Bali Sea Turtle, Friends of the National Park Foundation and Bali Sharks.

As mentioned before, they are currently in their pre-launch phase and will be launching on 12th of January. People that are interested in the product can check out their Kickstarter Pre-Launch page here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ondray/ondray-eco-luxury-screen-and-sun-glasses-from-bali
