Make it Happen

Kuala Lumpur, March 14th2012 – Despite the ongoing economic upheaval throughout the US and Europe – and several instances of conflict or political change in the Arab world - another part of the world can [overall] boast a year of positive transformative change: Asia.

Certainly, this has not been a full-blown spring as experienced throughout the Middle East as a whole; the gains have been more modest, the shifts less obvious. But consistency – often the watch word in Asian industry – is the key.

With private companies in the region looking to focus more heavily on areas such as ethics in finance and governance; government bodies and the public sector want to lead by example by advocating leadership through insight and innovation. Studies have shown that Asian leadership skills show common weaknesses that include conflict management and managing vision. They also reveal a reliance on old, mechanistic models that stand in the way of innovation and effective leadership.

To succeed in what has been termed as Asia 2.0, leaders must craft inclusive and innovative strategies and create a value system for growth into new markets. Leadership itself requires its own levels of expertise, and it can take many years to learn how to lead, manage, coach, and develop people too.The stage is now set for leaders in both the public and private sectors to advance further by managing vision, developing human capital and discovering fresh ideas and new solutions.
‘Leaders don’t create followers, they create more leaders.’ This is the mantra for organisations and individuals who understand that as business leaders – you need to empower others who can lead the way – both now and in the future.

Indeed, the top 150 thought leaders from the private and public sectors are gathering at the Thought Leaders Summit Asia, taking place May 28th and 29th 2012 in Kuala Lumpur. They will review and debate effective leadership strategies through a series of panel discussions, workshops and think tanks.

The summit is the brainchild of French business information group naseba. ICLIF – the Leadership and Governance Center, Malaysia, will collate results from the two-day initiative which will be published in a white paper.

Adam Fletcher, General Manager Asia Pacific at naseba explained: “This summit is bringing together an array of the most respected business leaders in the region. With the focus on building Asia 2.0, the knowledge-sharing, discussions and networking opportunities the two days will provide could be of immeasurable benefit to achieving both personal and organisational goals.”

naseba produces, promotes and hosts business summits, professional training courses and business exhibitions targeting executive level attendees across multiple vertical industries.
