Surface mining applications are easily handled by the portable XRF Alpha Series analyzers that deliver results within seconds.

Woburn, MA, ---Visitors to Sistemas Analiticos SAX Booth #101 at the EXPONOR 2007 show in Antofagasta,Chile (see* below) will learn how X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) in mining operations can save valuable time and costs by performing rapid analysis right on site, from exploration to processing to end materials.

Innov-X unveils new products at EXPONOR 2007 this year, guaranteed to make a visit to booth 101 worthwhile.

• X-50 Mobile XRF high-powered, portable XRF: the ultimate benchtop XRF featuring 10X or more the power of handhelds now in a mobile package. The best detection limits for key trace level elements like Au, Pt and others.
• Innov-X’s Alpha Series® handheld (XRF) analyzers with new capabilities

Underground and surface mining applications are easily handled by the portable XRF Alpha Series™ analyzers that deliver results within seconds. On-site screening for elemental analysis from Mg to U in the periodic table is provided accurately minimizing the need of samples for expensive off-site laboratory testing.

Innov-X’s breakthrough design uses an X-ray tube in a compact unit. The Ultimate in Customer Choice: The Classic Removable PDA model or the Totally Sealed Internal Electronics model. Both models offer the signature Innov-X Superior Ergonomic design for performance, ruggedness, portability and versatility required for tough field applications.

• The lightest weight, smallest, and best-balanced handheld XRF.
• Bright, color display that is easy to read in any lighting conditions - even direct sunlight.
• Touch trigger. No uncomfortable triggers to squeeze and hold. Comfortable “deadman” trigger also.
• Dual display: Angled front display plus rear display for easy viewing of test results.
• Reduce regulatory baggage – no wipe tests, minimal travel restrictions, easy to transport.
• Eliminates the liability of isotope control, improper use, theft and disposal.

Either Innov-X Handheld XRF system is configured with a standard package of up to 25 elements including precious metals. These can include: Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zr, Pb, Zn, Mo, W (and other elements). They provide alloy chemistry and grade ID in seconds. Customers may specify additional or replacement elements at any time, provided they can be measured by handheld XRF.

The PDA-based interface makes it easy to use for non-technical operators. The Innov-X System offers the performance, ruggedness, portability and versatility required for mining applications. It’s becoming an indispensable tool in the toolbox of today’s miners.

Need a Portable XRF to Check Light Elements?

Innov-X Systems also introduces the Innov-X Alpha LZX featuring true mobile vacuum technology. With patent-pending vacuum technology, the same ultra portable XRF analyzer is now able to measure Mg, Al, Si, P and 25+ other elements simultaneously in alloys, powders, ores, liquids and more! There are no Helium gas or compressed tanks to carry and no vacuum pumps to wear or attach. Available as a new analyzer or an upgrade, this is the most capable, most convenient and most flexible handheld XRF design ever!

Use handheld XRF Innov-X analyzers in demanding applications. The mining industry faces many challenges today where onsite XRF testing can help. XRF testing covers: green field exploration and process control; base metal testing; Cu, Ni and Ta assaying; Pt Group Metal (PGM) analysis; mine-mapping and mineral exploration; tailing and concentrate analysis; to environmental studies on slag and leachate materials. Alpha Series can provide analysis of soils, ores, tailings, concentrates, borings, cores, fragments, slurries, filters and films.
Most mining companies follow a sustainable development plan that helps minimize the environmental and health impact of the mining process. During smelting, unwanted slag material is analyzed for the natural metals that remain to be reported through the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-know Act (EPCRA). OSHA may require elemental analysis of ambient air on filters to monitor toxic dust exposure of miners.
The Innov-X portable XRF for elemental analysis meets EPA method 6200 for metals in soil, NIOSH method 7702 for lead in air filters, and OSHA methods OSSA1 and OSS1 for lead in air filters and dust wipes. The eight RCRA metals and priority pollutant metals are easily monitored on-site with the Innov-X hand held XRF.
The Innov-X handheld analyzer runs with up to 25-element software suites using fundamental parameters, spectral matching and/or empirically generated calibrations. Data is stored in binary format which is virtually impossible to alter. Wireless data transfer enables rapid information transfer from remote locations. Leading edge technology such as Bluetooth and others being developed will continue to “future-proof” the Alpha Series™.
If you need even tighter specs for Cd, Sn, Sb, Ag, precious metals and rare earths, consider the X-50 Mobile XRF. It affords the power of a bench-top system engineered for the field. Its greater sensitivity results from higher power levels of 50X typical handheld units, and opens up many challenging applications that formerly required full-sized laboratory instrumentation. It is well suited for field inspection, particularly for large samples, where one cannot wait days or weeks for lab analysis results.

About Innov-X Systems
Innov-X Systems is a vital new force in the x-ray fluorescence (XRF) industry. Their systems perform fast, accurate chemical analysis in seconds to identify, differentiate and quantify most materials by elemental composition. Founded in 2001, they pioneered handheld XRF instrumentation using a miniature x-ray tube rather than radioactive isotopes. Innov-X has rapidly expanded into many other XRF areas. These include the new SEA-Mate™ System for marine on-board fluids analysis; MobiLab X50, a portable XRF that in comparison to handheld units, delivers higher power and superior performance throughout the periodic table. Innov-X has also taken a leading position in custom XRF and online/automated XRF instrumentation.

With R&D and manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Innov-X has offices in Europe (the Netherlands), and Asia (Hong Kong). They maintain sales and service alliances in Canada, the Middle East, Latin America and worldwide. Service, installation and training is available in over 100 countries.
