Press release from: NoMachine

Rome, Italy, April 12, 2012 - Dr. Jelle Barentsz demonstrated how modern technology, including NoMachine's remote access software, can improve physician collaboration and lead to better patient care at last week's TEDxMaastricht "The Future of Health" event.

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide. Dr. Barentsz, a professor of Radiology and Chair of the Prostate MR-Center of Excellence at the Radboud University Nijmgen Medical Center, and his team see advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans as a critical step to more accurate patient diagnoses. During his TEDx session, Dr. Barentsz also proved how the sharing of these images between specialists is integral to faster, better diagnosis and treatment of tumors.

During his talk, Dr. Barentsz utilized NoMachine's virtual desktop access software to jointly analyze a sample patient's MRI with colleagues in real time. While speaking at the event in Maastrict, The Netherlands, he accessed MRI software located on the hospital's clinical servers running Linux in Nijmegen. Dr. Barentsz then collaborated with physicians located in the United States and Australia, as well as a physician in the audience using an iPad. All four doctors were able to view the MRI at the same time and, using a medical video-conferencing program, quickly come to a consensus about treatment.

Regardless of location or the network environment, NoMachine's NX software provides real-time performance in remote sessions, automatically tuning itself to network bandwidth and latency parameters. Providing security through SSH encryption, NX supplies the complete connectivity and mobility demanded by organizations today.

NX also enables session shadowing, which allows multiple users to connect to the same remote session simultaneously for easier collaboration. By using NX, Dr. Barentsz was able to build up what he calls a "center of excellence network." NoMachine ensures this network has a smooth, dependable and secure connection no matter what the bandwidth or environment of each team member.
