Canadian ReusableGuard.com Features A Patented Game Changer in Anti-Viral PPE
In an effort to support the fight against the spread of Covid-19, and help keep Canadian communities safe, Mabata Inc. introduces the latest anti-viral Swiss technology that has been internationally tested and certified to the Canadian market.Mabata Inc., a Nova Scotian business that was founded in 2018, was forced to re-think its strategy and business focus, due to the impact of the pandemic. After months of global research, the company was able to secure quantities of certified reusable anti-viral masks and gloves that are sustainable replacing the use of over 300 single-use masks, effective in filtering particles >2.5 - 3 microns and powered with a technology that is certified to destroy viruses (including Covid-19) on contact.
In mid-October, Mabata Inc. launched a new business unit called ReusableGuard - an online store reusableguard.com that is dedicated to only selling certified and tested reusable PPE. The new division has already received an overwhelming number of orders that were shipped from its Halifax base to Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, Nova Scotia as well as Belarus, Costa Rica and a number of locations across the US.
The FineGuard masks and gloves, one of the first products offered on the site are incredibly comfortable, breathable, self-disinfecting, reusable and washable. They are treated with the internationally tested and certified Swiss Livinguard Technology which is proven to kill 99.9% viruses that come in contact with the fabric of the PPE.
After conducting more than 65,000 experiments and filing more than 100 patents, the Swiss Livinguard Technology behind the fabric used in the FineGuard reusable PPE, has come up with a solution that is a global game changer. The principle underlying the technology is the ability of polycationic surfaces to inactivate microorganisms including bacteria, viruses, and several types of fungi, and to do so without leaching.
Najib Faris, founder and CEO of Mabata Inc. said: “With the second wave starting to cast its shadow on our communities, we need to work collaboratively to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our families, neighbors, and employees while keeping our businesses and economy afloat” he added “The world is facing an unprecedented global health, social and economic emergency as a result of the pandemic. The reason we launched ReusableGuard is that we wanted to bring a unique global product to Canada that could genuinely help keep Canadians safe.”
Livinguard believes that the future is tied to sustainable solutions that treat our world kindly. They are committed to developing highly effective technologies that also minimize waste and use of resources. The company views personal and planetary health as inseparable imperatives and the foundational base of everything that they do.
The Swiss Livinguard Technology is a patented process that is capable of empowering textiles, paper, plastics, and other materials with the ability to destroy germs continuously, permanently, and safely. The fabric used in the FineGuard masks and gloves is embedded with 24 billion positive charges per square centimetre that effectively attract, trap and destroy viruses. The reusable and washable masks remain viable and safe for use for up to one year. The anti-viral fabric has been tested and does not contain leachable metals or chemicals that can be harmful to users or the environment.
According to the scientific literature, the inactivation mechanism of viruses is based on the distortion of the protein capsid by adsorption of negatively charged proteins to the positively charged surface, finally leading to the release of non-infectious RNA.
Tests have shown that after multiple rinses or washes, the treated textile maintains its properties without leaching. This lack of leaching is the underlying reason why the antimicrobial performance is so durable as well as why it is safe for skin contact.
Livinguard Antiviral Technology has been successfully tested over the course of 5 years across different applications. Testing by the Swiss Federal Institute for NBC Protection and NSF International, among other labs, has shown inactivation of Influenza A Virus, Yellow Fever Virus, Rota Virus, Polio Virus, MS2 phage, and FR coliphage. Antiviral performance is >99.9% on average and even up to >99.9999% in some cases, with unparalleled speed of inactivation, as well as durability of performance.
Testing under the supervision of Dr. Charles Gerba at the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Arizona has recently demonstrated a >99% inactivation rate of HCoV-229E on the textiles used in Livinguard masks. This is widely accepted as being representative of performance against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the COVID-19 infection. The tests were conducted with a surrogate for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) and have shown that a single layer of Livinguard fabric destroys more than 99% of coronavirus, and the FineGuard mask is a multi-barrier mask composed of two separate layers that filters 99.9% of the Coronavirus, giving an unmatched protection.
Based on the ability of polycationic surfaces to inactivate microorganisms including bacteria, viruses, and several types of fungi, the masks are also odor-free and permanently self-disinfecting. The mask and gloves are made from Cotton, Nylon, Polyester, Spandex elastic, Plastic, Lycra and have passed extensive skin safety testing at Product Safety Labs in New York per US EPA standards and at Hohenstein Institute in Germany per European standards.
