Vikram Solar Commissions a 2MW Solar Power Plant in Raipur, Chhattisgarh

Vikram Solar announces the commissioning & launch of a grid-connected power plant of 2 MW capacity in Kharora, 38 KM from the city of Raipur in Chhattisgarh. This plant is set up under the RPSSGP Scheme of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) and Chhattisgarh Investment Limited. The plant has been inaugurated by Dr. Raman Singh, the Honorable Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and was presided over by Swami Shri Satyaroopanand Ji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Raipur. This solar photovoltaic grid-connected power plant in Raipur will provide renewable solar energy solutions to remote & rural regions of the geography. This newly launched plant will not only improve the energy consumption levels with its grid extension reaching remote locations, but also provide backup power to people living in the region in the event of a grid failure.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Fernando Arroyo, Managing Partner, Vikram Proener Projects said, “We assure you of a better power supply from the plant that will provide solar power to a lot of rural homes in order to meet India’s growing energy needs. There is no other alternative than to focus on solar energy.”

With the commencement of four new projects over the month, Vikram Solar has established themselves in India as a comprehensive EPC turnkey solution provider in setting up Solar PV plants. A 5MW plant has been already commissioned in Gujarat in December 2011, a project sponsored by Konark Gujarat PV Private Limited which has been making a steady progress in the space. This was followed by a second power plant, of 1 MW capacity, launched in Rourkela, Orissa which was sponsored by Molisati Vinimay Pvt. Ltd. A third initiative being another 1 MW project with Jay Iron & Steel limited at Bamra, in Sambalpur District, Orissa. Other projects in the pipeline and towards commissioning are in the states of Uttaranchal (Roorkee), Rajasthan and Gujarat, as well as spread over many other states in India.

The commencement of the 2MW solar project in Raipur, Chhattisgarh has brought up Vikram Solar's total solar power commissioning capacity to 8 MW. The launch falls into strategic alignment with the company's aim of consolidating its position in the green energy industry and the EPC competence space.
