TRUMPF Medical Systems opens Medical Technology Center in Paris
Ditzingen (Germany), Paris (France), April 4, 2012 – The medical technology company TRUMPF Medical Systems inaugurated a new showroom for its products in Paris onApril 3, 2012. “This medical technology showroom represents an investment of almost one million euros and demonstrates TRUMPF’s commitment to the important French market. I am satisfied that this will give us an even better opportunity to showcase the innovative features and versatility of our products,” said Dr Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller, Chairwoman of the Managing Board of the TRUMPF Group, at the inauguration ceremony. The event was attended by German ambassador Reinhard Schäfers and some 150 invited guests.
The showroom, a realistic reproduction of the clinical situation in actual practice, comprises two operating rooms (ORs) equipped with the very latest TRUMPF systems plus an intensive care unit (ICU). It provides an opportunity for surgeons, OR nurses, hospital managers and planning engineers to see how state-of-the-art workplaces of the future might look. The products and concepts displayed in the showroom highlight the innovative capabilities of the TRUMPF Group's Medical Technology division. Visitors can use the showroom's true-to-life medical environments to simulate typical hospital scenarios, test products and their functions, and draw up specifications for their own requirements.
“Customized consulting and additional services, training programs and workshops are the key factors behind the success of the tailored solutions we offer our customers. Our new showroom provides the ideal environment for these activities. It offers our staff members the perfect setting to demonstrate the effectiveness and the capabilities of our products and our organization. And, just as importantly, we hope it will remind people that TRUMPF Medical Technology is part of a highly productive and successful Group,” explains Thierry Berger, CEO of TRUMPF AMSA SAS, the French subsidiary of TRUMPF Medical Systems.
Advantageously located in Roissy – close to Charles-de-Gaulle TGV-station and airport and with excellent transport links – the Medical Technology Center is housed in the facilities of TRUMPF SARL, the Parisian site of the TRUMPF Laser Technology and Machine Tools divisions. This means that all the major TRUMPF divisions are now represented under one roof.
The Medical Technology Division currently accounts for some 10 percent of total revenues within the group. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Harald Völker, Head of the TRUMPF Group’s Medical Technology Division, said: “France is one of our key markets in Europe, and over the course of the last six fiscal years we have increased our sales here by 80 percent. We are a leading force in the operating table product segment with a market share of 40 percent – a figure that rises above 50 percent in the case of high-end operating tables.”
TRUMPF Medical Systems develops and produces flexible operating table and patient transport systems, innovative technologies for surgical lighting and communication systems, and ergonomic supply units for ORs and intensive care units. The company has some 650 employees globally and reported sales of 176.2 million euros in fiscal 2010/11. Its two main sites are located in Saalfeld in Thuringia and in Puchheim near Munich.
