Lincoln model DC 600 industrial welding machine.

(CHESAPEAKE, Va.) – The assets of Steeltech Industrial Fabrication, Inc. – a large-scale, established industrial welding shop – will be sold at auction April 11-12, at the firm’s facilities located at 1401 Precon Drive in Chesapeake. The building and property will not be sold, just the vehicles, equipment, warehouse items and some office furnishings and fixtures.

Offered will be heavy-duty vehicles and forklifts, more than 35 welding machines, drill presses, burning machines, huge steel work tables, waffle tables, power and hand tools, over 50 gauges, saws (to include an Amada saw and a Do-All vertical band saw, Model U-1421), a large stockpile of steel and racks, and some office furniture and equipment items.

Steeltech Industrial Fabrication, Inc., was founded in 1999 and in a short time grew into one of the biggest large-scale welding shops in the region. Its client base was substantial, and the firm serviced numerous businesses with varying industrial needs. Steeltech plans to remain in business, on a pared-back scale, doing mobile on-site jobs and working out of a smaller location.

The auction will begin promptly at 9 a.m. (EST) both days and will be conducted by Atlantic Asset Management Group, based in Virginia Beach. Bidders can also participate in a simulcast live online auction at www.bidspotter.com, or leave absentee bids at www.atlanticREmarketing.com.

A spokesman for Atlantic Asset Management Group said around 20 assets from a large adjacent marine business would be folded into the sale. A preview will be held Tuesday, April 10, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at which all lots may be viewed. The full catalog, with color photos, may also be viewed at the website, www.atlanticREmarketing.com.

Several items are expected to generate keen bidder interest. One is a Mitsubishi heavy-duty Caterpillar Model V330C forklift, desirable for its 15 ½ -foot-tall mast. It is one of fewer than ten such forklifts in Virginia. Another is a Controlled Automation CNC burning table (steel cutter) with limited hours (and many accessory components, such as a water tank and air dryer). Still another is a Piranha ‘Iron Worker’—a durable, single-operator hydraulic ironwork station.

The trucks will include a 2007 Peterbilt Model 387 18-wheeler with a 475-hp engine, 13 speeds, sleeper and 110,000 miles on the odometer; a 2003 GMC Sierra 3500 one-ton, four-door Duramax SLT 4x4 pickup truck with extended crew cab, V-8 turbo engine and 205,654 miles; and a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 one-ton ‘Dually’ pickup truck, V-8, with extended cab.

Other forklifts include a Yale propane forklift with 7,314 hours; a Taylor Big Red forklift (Model TY-220-M, 22,000 lbs.); and a Wiggins truck lift (Model W156Y, 23,150 hours). Also sold will be a homemade 2001 utility trailer; an incomplete 1991 Oshkosh vehicle with a V-8, 250hp engine; a 1983 trailer; and two job-site trailers suitable for on-site administrative offices.

Equipment expected to wow the crowd will feature a heavy-duty steel fabrication table measuring 40 feet 5 inches by 8 feet 2 inches; various welders (Mounted, Mobile, Century and Lincoln); an automated plate burner; bench grinders; track torches; air compressors (including an Atlas 185, 750 Sullair and Ingersoll Rand 90); tank carts; and a trailer-mounted pressure washer.

Also sold will be a drum deck winch with motor; a BendTec 3000 pipe fabrication and bending machine; a 15-ton deck-mounted crane; a 15-ton boom truck; a 22-foot catamaran; clamps; tank carts; power and hand tools; shop fans; heaters; warehouse shelving units; and ladders. Other welding materials too numerous to list and describe here will also be offered.

The items from the marine operation will include two deck winches (one single drum, one double drum, both with Detroit 371 motors); an Atlas Copco Model LE 75-10 air compressor; two job boxes; two five-foot roller stands; a single sheave block with chain; two five-foot gear-driven roller stands; a work platform; a pallet of outdoor lights; a man basket; and other items.

Some office furniture and equipment will come up for bid. Offered will be a Yancy Pipe copying machine; laptop and desktop computers; and assorted furniture pieces. A 15 percent buyer’s fee will be applied to all purchases (a 3 percent surcharge will be added, if paying by credit card). All items will be sold “as is-where is,” with no warranties expressed or implied.

Winning bidders at the auction will be able to pay by cash, cashier’s check, Visa, Master and Discover cards. Checks will be accepted with an approved bank letter of guarantee. All items must be paid in full before removal can begin. There will be no removal of assets during the auction. Asset and removal times will be on April 13 and 14.
