An architect’s render of the new Hotel Sky, located in the heart of Sandton and set to redefine corporate travel.

In an unprecedented time for business and business travellers globally, a brave team of developers are opening a new hotel in the heart of Sandton, with a key focus on offering the ideal corporate travel option as the economy opens up again.

Spearheaded by veteran hotelier, Paul Kelley, Hotel Sky is the new jewel in Sandton’s crown, and set to open its doors in October 2020 despite the obstacles faced by the hotel and travel industry this year.

“Hotel Sky has been a long term dream and project,’ says Kelley, “with our goal being to offer the perfect blend of comfort, convenience and affordability for corporate travellers. Central to this vision was endeavouring to secure prime locations, and we feel we have achieved this in both Johannesburg and Cape Town.”

The Sandton hotel will be located in the corner of Maude and West Street, a mere stone’s throw from the Sandton International Convention Centre and dozens of corporate head offices, while the Cape Town establishment is currently being constructed across the road from the Cape Town ICC on the Foreshore.

Hotel Sky’s vision for business is simple and effective: To provide world-class facilities with local nuances suited to travellers in South Africa.

Accessibility, affordability, technology, hygiene, location and service are at the forefront of the business travellers’ mind and top the list of priorities for the Hotel Sky team when it comes to their wide array of facilities.

In addition to its 453 exquisitely designed rooms and suites, Hotel Sky has enlisted state-of-the-art hospitality technology to make guests’ stays as simple, convenient, comfortable and unforgettable as possible. This includes seamless app-based reservations, check-in and room access; uncapped, high-speed WiFi; and three AI-powered robots to assist with luggage, room service and guest relations.

“Our vision is to offer a hotel experience like no other,” says Hotel Sky Sandton General Manager, Herman Brits, “so we have spared no expense in developing a world class hotel. Business travellers are a key focus, so we have created rooms and spaces that offer the perfect blend of comfort, affordability and practicality, all exquisitely designed to ensure a truly memorable experience.”

The business and technological amenities extend beyond the hotel’s accommodation, with Hotel Sky Sandton also offering world class conferencing facilities. The eventing facilities include the 190-seater Infinity Auditorium which is fitted with the best audio-visual and presentation technology on the market, and the 200-seater Solstice Conference Hall which can be divided into two venues for more smaller functions.

The large conference halls are complimented by 11 smaller conference and boardrooms which can seat 4-12 people, creating the perfect setting for more intimate board meetings, negotiations and presentations.

All of Hotel Sky’s conference venues include state-of-the-art video conferencing and live streaming equipment, enabling seamless remote conferencing, meetings, training and seminars.

Hotel Sky is scheduled to open its doors in Sandton in October 2020 and launch with an opening special, with rooms from R695 per night.
