What are the ongoing trends driving the industrial protective clothing market growth by 2025?
Globally considered as one of the most vital and fastest-growing industry verticals, global industrial protective clothing market size will exceed a yearly valuation of US$22.5 billion by 2026. The demand for PPE will be primarily driven by prominent use in oil & gas and chemicals applications as well as in the healthcare sector in wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.Evaluating workplace hazards and defining industrial safety measures is critical to ensuring safe working environment for staff and workers. Strict worker safety norms in the oil & gas sector
Workers and operators in the oil and gas sector face a wide range of hazards on a daily basis. Different products and chemicals used in the sector can be flammable, corrosive, irritating, or worse. Employers need to provide workers with efficient and well-tested industrial safety equipment to help ensure their safety and well-being. On oil and gas sites, required industrial safety gear usually includes eye protection, hand and foot protection, hearing protection, and flame-resistance clothing (FRC).
The oil and gas industry is highly susceptible to the risk of fires and explosions. According to the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), 77 offshore fire incidents and 3 explosions were reported during 2018.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has mandated the use of eye protection such as safety glasses for workers if the operation will expose them to molten metal, flying particles, light radiation, or hazardous chemicals. OSHA also recommends employers to provide workers with safety gloves based on their job, working environment, and considering the construction characteristics and performance of the gloves.
Extensive application in the chemicals industry
Working with chemicals involves a series of short-term and long-term health and safety hazards, including respiratory tract infection and damage, skin and eye irritation, organ damage, fire and smoke related injuries, and even cancer. Most workers are exposed to chemicals when they accidently inhale dusts, vapors, gases, or fumes. However, absorption through skin and accidental ingestion are also likely sources of exposure to chemicals.

However, it is important to note that chemical laboratories aren’t the only workspaces that deal with the risks of chemical exposure and related injuries. Industrial protective clothing market are agriculture, automotive, construction, are some of the major industries where workers need to handle hazardous chemicals. The effects of chemical exposure can be mild and temporary, or it can be hazardous and have lifelong consequences. These factors indicate a strong need for personal safety equipment when dealing with chemicals.
OSHA recommends the use of appropriate eye or face protection as well as hand and hand protection for workers while dealing with liquid chemicals, caustic liquids, concentrated acids, and chemical gases and vapors.

The novel COVID-19 pandemic and surge in PPE demand
The outbreak of the coronavirus a few months ago has positively influenced the demand for PPE including face masks, respirators, gloves and body overalls. Industries and businesses which are currently operating during the pandemic have supplier PPE to their employees and workers to curb the spread of the virus.
In March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) had recommended governments to increase PPE production by up to 40% to bridge the massive global demand-supply gap. Industrial facilities are quite exposed to the virus outbreak. Clean room clothing is an important PPE not only in industries but also healthcare isolation facilities.
