The global 3D Printing Filament Material market size is projected to reach USD 255 million by 2025, from USD 197.8 million in 2019, at a CAGR of 25.5 % during 2019-2025. 3D printing filament is a thermoplastic raw material for melt deposition modeling 3D printer. Several types of filaments with different properties can be used and different temperatures are required to print. PLA (Polylactic Acid) is one of the most commonly used desktop 3D printing filaments (the other is ABS filaments). It is the "native" recommended material for many desktop 3D printers and has good reason. PLA is useful for a wide range of printing applications, has the advantage of odorless and low warpage, and does not require a heated bed. PLA filament is also one of the more environmentally friendly 3D printer materials. It is made annually from renewable resources (corn starch) and requires less energy to process compared to traditional (petroleum-based) plastics. Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) is another commonly used 3D printer material. It's best for making durable parts that need to withstand high temperatures. Compared to PLA filament, ABS plastic is less "brittle" and "soft".
