Chinese internet users break great firewall by Proxylord
Frankfurt, Germany, May 24, 2007 - BBC's Click program reported that Proxylord.com is getting very popular among Chinese users. Beijing has a vast infrastructure of technology to keep an eye on any potential online dissent. It also applies lots of human eyeballs to monitoring. The agencies that watch over the Net employ more than 30,000 people to prowl Web sites, blogs, and chat rooms on the lookout for offensive content as well as scammers. In the U.S., by contrast, the entire CIA employs an estimated 16,000 people.Many internet users in China use public proxy servers to access blocked sites. BBC reported: "Another option might be a web-based proxy site abroad like Anonymouse or ProxyLord. They are going down well among surfers and bloggers in China"
One of the biggest free public proxies, Proxylord.com, has a cluster of servers in Germany and a 1 gigabit internet backbone connection. Users can access blocked sites and conceal their identity using Proxylord. Proxylord plans to upgrade its network to answer the increasing demand of Chinese users.
