Malaria Free Week Berlin 2012
Berlin, 09 February 2012Hope Foundation Germany is proud to present the Malaria Week Berlin (April 18th to 25th), a series of events organized within the Malaria Free Cameroon (MFC) project, in the run-up World Malaria Day on April 25. We aim to raise awareness about malaria in Germany and gain support for the project in Cameroon.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared that Malaria, transmitted via infected mosquito bites, is responsible for up to two deaths every minute. This reality is unacceptable, especially because the disease is preventable and treatable. Cooperative efforts of public bodies and non-governmental organizations are already addressing this issue through innovative education and prevention methods which offer positive prospects.
The MFC endeavors to provide help to the most vulnerable communities in Cameroon using a three pronged approach: educating the public, distributing long lasting insecticide treated mosquito nets, and supporting local health centers. MFC 2012 is targeting malaria in the communities in and around Bosquet in Eastern Cameroon.
