TMHE Announces New BT Movit Range of Towing Tractors & Load Carriers

Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) has packaged a complete range of tailored load carriers and towing tractors with towing capacities up to 3000 kg.

The quest for maximum efficiency in order picking, or any other operation that involves handling individual items, leads many companies to employ special load carriers pulled by towing tractors. The new BT Movit towing tractor range has been developed to provide new options in this important area. TMHE demonstrated the new range’s wide selection, strength and durability at inter airport Europe, in Germany last October.

TMHE has first-hand experience of the need to develop bespoke load carriers within handling operations. Its production facilities use many varieties of load carrier in order to deliver components to production efficiently.

The company has learnt from this experience in order to develop a complete range of solutions for both production and order picking applications. BT Movit includes a full range of load carriers designed to aid efficiency when handling specific items.

A complete range of load carriers
The load carriers include versions with shelving to allow sorting during the assembly run, and load carriers with built-in steps to allow access to higher level storage. A key area in bespoke load carrier systems is the use of towing trains into which several loads can be integrated. This often involves the use of ‘host carriers’ into which standard load carriers can be integrated for transport. The result is a single tractor unit conveying multiple loads, increasing efficiency and driving down costs.

Due to the variety of loads handled this way and the potential diversity of applications, the new BT Movit range offers a choice of towing tractors.

Advanced towing tractor design
The BT Movit S-series towing tractor is derived from the latest BT Optio low-level order picking truck family. Powerful AC motors ensure maximum performance, and this combines with the advanced driving characteristics that have been developed to maximise efficiency in conventional order picking applications. With a towing capacity of 3000 kg, this machine is ready for heavy duty use in warehouse towing applications.

The fact remains that human involvement inevitably lies at the heart of any towing operation. This is precisely why the new BT Movit S-series is developed around a Smooth Operator concept, designed to provide the best working conditions. Several aspects of this concept deserve a special attention.

First of all the BT Movit S-series was built with a low step-in height and the option of the new Frequency-Adapted Suspension (FAS) system developed by TMHE. Recognising the fact that different types of vibration can occur depending on working conditions, FAS delivers a new standard of cushioning when it comes to vibration in truck operations.

The E-man control system on BT Movit S-series models is based on an extremely flexible steering arm with touch-sensitive activation of the drive function and effortless electronic steering. The steering arm is designed to follow the operator’s position. It can be moved left and right to allow pedestrian control, walking alongside.

Efficient administration is essential in order picking operations, and the BT Movit S-series has been designed to meet these needs, in accordance with the Smooth Operator concept. The trucks feature a number of storage compartments in and around the truck, as well as the optional BT E-bar, which allows easy mounting of ancillary equipment such as computer terminals, scanners, and other devices.

Unique narrow chassis models
A unique alternative within the new BT Movit range is the N-series. Offering towing capacities up to 1000 kg, these narrow trucks offer exceptional manoeuvrability, providing maximum flexibility in operation. There are two models within the N-series.

The standard model (TSE100) is designed to tow load carriers in the conventional way, whereas the TSE100W’s configuration means that the load carrier is effectively docked to the tractor unit. This gives maximum accessibility to the load carrier for picking, as well as exceptional stability, which is ideal for second-level work. It also means that the overall truck length is extremely short, which facilitates manoeuvrability in congested areas.

The BT Movit range of tow tractors is complemented with the Toyota Tracto range of industrial towing tractors that can provide electric or engine-driven pulling power with towing capacities up to 49 tonnes.
