Peter Metcalfe, Partner at business improvement specialists, Oliver Wight, will present the benefits of transitioning from Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) to Integrated Business Planning (IBP) at IBF’s Supply Chain Forecasting & Planning Conference in Shenzhen, China, on 30th March 2012.

The event, which attracts forecasting and supply chain decision makers from across the world, runs from March 29th-30th. Metcalfe’s presentation, which is on the second day, is called ‘Unlock the Potential: Transitioning from S&OP to IBP’. It will demonstrate the shortcomings of traditional S&OP in today’s business environment and explain how IBP (advanced S&OP) incorporates strategic initiatives and activities, and integrates all business processes to form one seamless management process.

“Many people are still unaware of the scope and benefit of IBP,” says Peter, who has over 28 years experience helping blue chip organisations across the world improve their planning processes. “S&OP has come a long way since it was pioneered by Oliver Wight back in the 1980s. Now, as IBP, it can integrate diverse processes across the supply chain, including product portfolio management and financial planning. As a result, companies can achieve much greater control over demand and production, and improve growth and profitability. With continued economic uncertainty it has never been more essential to get the whole business on track with a single agreed agenda for success.”

The Supply Chain Forecasting & Planning Conference is organised by the Institute of Business Forecasting and Planning. In its second year, the annual conference is the largest gathering of forecasting and planning professionals in Asia. The event will run over two days, in the Four Points by Sheraton Shezhen hotel. Attendees will hear talks from thought-leaders in supply chain management, take part in workshop events and have the opportunity to network with fellow practitioners in the forecasting community.

Oliver Wight has a 40 year track record of delivering business improvement to some of the world’s best known organisations. At the leading-edge of management thinking and practicing, IBP lies at the heart of Oliver Wight’s improvement programs.

About Oliver Wight

Oliver Wight has a 40 year track record of delivering business improvement to some of the world’s best-known organisations. With a team of professionals offering a wealth of experience, Oliver Wight is the largest consultancy of its type, with offices throughout Europe, South Africa, North and South America, and the Asia Pacific region. We believe that sustainable business improvement can’t be delivered by external consultants but only by our clients’ own people, so unlike other consultancy firms, we transfer our knowledge to them, helping deliver performance levels and financial results that last.

Integrated Busines Planning
At the leading edge of management thinking and practice, our Integrated Business Planning (IBP) model lies at the heart of our clients’ journey to outstanding business performance. Oliver Wight are the originators of sales and operations planning (S&OP) and IBP can most simply be described as advanced S&OP. However, unlike S&OP, IBP brings a truly strategic perspective, integrating diverse processes - in the extended supply chain, product and customer portfolios, customer demand and strategic planning - into one seamless management process.

Supply Chain Optimisation
In an uncertain business climate, volatile demand and unpredictability can expose weaknesses in supply chain performance. Supply Chain Optimisation helps companies improve sub-standard systems and processes, delivering a significant return to the bottom line.

Meeting the Class A Standard
The Oliver Wight Class A Checklist is the longest standing and most successful business assessment tool. The latest, Sixth Edition, raises the bar, and sets ever more demanding standards for companies on their journey to business excellence and the Oliver Wight Class A standard.
