Canyon Security Specialist & Consulting Joins
Nationwide FirstNet® Public Safety Network
(Phoenix, AZ) — Canyon Security Specialist & Consulting, a rapidly growing private security guard and safety consultancy headquartered in Arizona’s Valley of the Sun, today announced it is connecting its private security personnel to FirstNet – the nationwide communications network for first responders and those that could be called on to help support them. This state-of-the-art communications network equips users with access to voice, text messages, images, video, and location information in near real-time. Live and interoperable communications are critical to emergency response, particularly in mass casualty or natural disaster events. Canyon Security is one of the first private security organizations to join FirstNet in Arizona, allowing its fully licensed, armed and unarmed security personnel direct communication with public safety personnel in critical emergencies.
FirstNet is designed to improve communications across public safety entities nationwide, allowing first responders to easily and quickly communicate with one another and support personnel during everyday situations, big events, or emergencies. This is integral to solving the common roadblock that communications issues have imposed on past public safety responses.
“Canyon Security is delighted to deploy this innovative and effective communications tool,” said President and CEO, Kenneth Laird. “Protecting precious lives and mitigating disasters is foundational to the mission of our team and our clients, and FirstNet will be a significant asset contributing to our success.”
Canyon Security joins FirstNet as an extended primary user - organizations and agencies that could be called on to support public safety during significant emergency response. From mitigation, remediation, clean-up, and restoration to the provisioning of other services required during the time of an emergency or its aftermath, extended primary users includes public works, essential government services, school security, transportation, and utilities. Eligibility for extended primary user status is rigorously reviewed before service is approved to help ensure that FirstNet’s unique capabilities remain dedicated to first responders and those who support them.
FirstNet provides users with reliable, modern communications tools needed for optimal performance, including:
A single, nationwide communications network that allows users to efficiently and effectively coordinate emergency responses across agencies and jurisdictions.
Always-on priority for first responders and the ability to uplift other supporting agencies to provide reliable access to the connection we need – even when the network is congested.
A separate, dedicated and highly secure network core purpose-built for public safety’s sensitive communications.
Planned increases in coverage and capacity, enabling us to better respond to emergencies.
Innovative tools – like relevant applications and connected devices – to give us more actionable information for heightened situational awareness.
FirstNet is built with AT&T in public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority). It’s designed with and for public safety.
“We’re honored that Canyon Security has chosen FirstNet to elevate their communications capabilities,” said Stacy Schwartz, vice president, AT&T – Public Safety & FirstNet. “FirstNet will help Canyon Security better coordinate their response efforts for their clients and with public safety officials during a disaster or other emergency situations.”
