Alivia, a new social impact womenswear brand inspired by the creative expressions of individuals with disabilities, has featured model Grace Strobel, who has Down syndrome, in their new lifestyle campaign. Jovana Mullins, Alivia’s cofounder, first saw Grace back in October when she was featured on the Today Show, and immediately knew she would be the perfect model to represent Alivia.

“Grace’s beauty radiates both outward and inward. Her passion for advocating and breaking preconceived notions of what is possible for someone with a disability perfectly aligns with Alivia’s mission. We couldn’t be more proud to have such an inspirational woman to represent our brand!” Jovana said.

Alivia is on a mission to create the next great purpose-driven contemporary fashion brand. Officially launched April 1st, alongside Autism Awareness Month, this sustainable fashion brand offers meticulously designed, art-inspired ready-to-wear pieces with a refreshing aesthetic, centered on an inspiring cause. Each piece in the debut collection begins with an original artwork created by a person with a developmental disability. Collaborative in principle, their designers work to meticulously transform these works into bold prints and intricate embroideries that are incorporated into distinctly colorful garments in elevated silhouettes, while preserving the integrity of their unparalleled conception. Alivia aims to break preconceived boundaries – to showcase the level of unbelievable artistic talent inherent in people with different abilities.

The photoshoot took place in Kansas City, where Jovana grew up, and just a couple hours from Grace’s hometown of St. Louis. Jovana teamed up with her childhood friend and photographer, Megan Goodyear (Studio Tileen), and booked local Kansas City model Maggie Mackey to model alongside Grace in the campaign. The photos will be used across Alivia’s website, social media, and advertisements.

About Grace Strobel:

Grace Strobel is an inspirational 24-year-old model and speaker with Down syndrome. She has been featured on The Today Show and in 14 different magazine publications, with three cover stories, has been interviewed on TV and radio, and walked the runway for Atlantic City Fashion Week. In 2017, Grace co-created #TheGraceEffect, a presentation she gives to schools about overcoming obstacles, kindness, respect, and knowing one's worth. She has spoken to well over 3,000 students and is raising awareness and shifting attitudes and perceptions about what is possible for someone with a disability. Using herself as a personal example, she shines a light on how important it is to embrace diversity. Grace continues to break barriers and stereotypes in her profession. In 2018, she embarked upon a modeling career after her photos went viral. Since, she has signed to the Obagi skincare line as well as the clothing line Alivia.

About Alivia:

Sustainable, ethical, charitable and tech-savvy, Alivia is currently co-led by a NY-based wife and husband team, Jovana and Brandon Mullins. The entire collection is produced via certified ethical factory partners in NYC and India, with fabrics that feature recycled and regenerated fibers and utilize environmentally friendly printing processes. With every purchase, Alivia donates 10% of the sale price directly to the creator's nonprofit art therapy program, providing a lasting impact for generations of creators to come. Every garment includes a scannable tag allowing wearers to see, experience and share the human story behind their clothes—and the direct impact they've made. Alivia gives purpose and voice to the previously unheard, showcasing the many talents of people with disabilities — and pushing the fashion industry further towards inclusivity. The collection is available on www.shopalivia.com with prices ranging from $80 - $525.

As a 22-year-old very passionate about breaking the stigma around menstruation, I talk a LOT about periods. However, something that I think about quite often (but don’t have the knowledge or experiences to take action on) is the lack of conversation about menopause and incontinence. If you think periods are stigmatized…think about how little we even know about or hear about menopause mentioned. That’s why I was so excited when
