From Paris to Berlin - IDC's 17th European ICT Forum Moves to the Heart of Europe

05-22-2007 07:41 PM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: IDC

LONDON, May 21, 2007 — IDC is pleased to announce the launch of its flagship European event, the ICT Forum, which moves from its former home in Paris to the Maritim Hotel in Berlin, and takes place on September 10 and 11, 2007.
Titled "Enterprise 2.0 — Capitalizing on Convergence," IDC's European ICT Forum will focus on the new generation of ICT solutions, with particular emphasis on convergence and the open, collaborative "Web 2.0" environments (e.g., blogs, RSS, mashups, wikis) that are predicted to drive new business models, restructuring value chains, reshaping the traditional boundaries, and revolutionizing businesses' ability to innovate and create new value.

"There is a widening gulf in the use of the Internet by lean-forward consumers and lean-back business people," said Martin Hingley, IDC EMEA's chief research officer. "New technology is being adopted by broadband PC users at the heart of different kinds of collaborative interaction — whether exchanging videos on YouTube, music on mySpace, or exploring the virtual world of Second Life. In contrast, many businesses are stuck in the early 2000s, debating whether IT matters and trying to cut costs. Let's see if the proponents of Enterprise 2.0 can persuade us that we'll see them change course."

The ICT Forum agenda will help delegates:
-Gain insight into the new Enterprise 2.0 management strategies
-Identify the best approach to creating an Enterprise 2.0 environment
-Understand how to best manage and profit from "collective intelligence" — using the open and collaborative 2.0 environments to become more innovative
-Leverage the experiences of other CIOs and business executives in relation to the opportunities offered by the new Web 2.0 innovations

Speakers include:
-Don Tapscott, IT strategist and author of "Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything"
-Andrew McAfee, associate professor, Harvard Business School
-Frank Schwab, director, Strategy and Innovation Group Technology and Operations, Deutsche Bank AG
-Peter Dockx, IT Director, Electrabel
-Filippo Passerini, CIO, Procter & Gamble
-Martin Hingley, chief research officer, IDC EMEA
-Frank Gens, Senior Vice President, Research, IDC
