Press release from: Lauren P. Raysor, Esq.

/ PR Agency: PRMG
Attorney Lauren P. Raysor, Esq., author of “Living the Wealthy Life,” and the soon-to-be-released “Being Broke Is Not A Lifestyle,” is sponsoring a reception honoring five members of the Tuskegee Airmen. The reception will be held January 28 at The Riverview Restaurant, 2-01 50th Avenue in Long Island City, Queens at 1 p.m. Among those being honored are Dr. Roscoe C. Brown, Wilfred R. DeFour, Dabney N. Montgomery, Percy Sutton (in memoriam) and George Watson, Jr.

The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African-American pilots — also known as “Red Tails” — who fought during World War II. Between June 1943 and May 1945, 352 pilots took part in over 1,500 air combat missions and shot down 112 enemy planes. Three of the Tuskegee Airmen each shot down four enemy planes. Among the honors they received for their service were the Presidential Unit Citation, the Legion of Merit, the Silver Star, the Soldier Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal and the Red Star of Yugoslavia.

The reception coincides with the film “Red Tails,” which was released on January 20. The movie details both the battles the Tuskegee Airmen pilots faced during World War II and the prejudice they were forced to endure back home. There will be a special appearance by actress/comedienne/activist Phyllis Yvonne Stickney, who will highlight the achievements of The Tuskegee Airmen and join the honorees in a discussion of the film.

Ms. Stickney has appeared in such films as “Malcolm X,” “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” “New Jack City” and “Die Hard With A Vengeance.” She has also performed at numerous theater and arts festivals around the world and received numerous honors for her contributions to the arts and society. She is currently performing her stand-up act, “Live & In Chocolate.”

“‘Red Tails’ is a great movie depicting the lives and accomplishments of the Tuskegee Airmen, with excellent performances from Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding, Jr.,” Ms. Raysor said. “We look forward to Ms. Stickney and our honored guests speak about the film and how it compares to their real-life experiences.”

General admission tickets are $75, and VIP private reception tickets are $100. All ticket sales will go to benefit The Learning Tree Multi-Cultural School, an independent educational institution based in Corona, Queens, for young schoolchildren. The curriculum covers fine arts, language and advanced mathematics and science. Ms. Raysor has been a supporter of The Learning Tree Multi-Cultural School, having sponsored the school’s annual science fair.

“We are pleased to have these living heroes here in our presence,” Ms. Raysor said. “These men have overcome major obstacles for the opportunity to fight in World War II. Many of them gave their lives for their country. We ask those to join us as we honor these great Americans for their bravery, commitment and service to this wonderful country.”
