COVID 19 is not only about the health aspect of the people that are affected badly, but it is also about an economic slowdown, huge job losses, and an environment of fear and uncertainty all around. The travel and hospitality sector is one of the worst affected. Once we put COVID 19 behind there will be an increase in travel but with significantly higher usage of technology. Travelers will follow social distancing, remote accessibility, and technologically enabled solutions. Travelers will prefer to book vehicles, the room stays and sightseeing packages based on the ratings for the hygiene and sanitization adopted. We will be discussing how technology will find its place in traveling. For convenience, we will be explaining it in the form of different segments.
How technology will find a place everywhere?
Air travel
 Health will be the priority of every decision made henceforth. According to IATA travelers feel more confident with visible screening, sanitization, and masks. Right now regaining the trust of travelers is the most important for the travel industry. Health-screening and tracking tools are the keys to reclaim the trust of travelers. So the focus now is on touchless travel. The world economic forum’s “ Known traveler digital identity” is an initiative in this direction to make traveling seamless and safe.
More touchless options like a contactless fingerprint, as well as iris and face recognition, will come into play.
Local travel
 Local travel may include taxi rentals, self-drive car rentals, and bike rentals. Vehicle providers can show ratings and price variation according to the facilities they provide. So the traveler has a choice of making more informed decisions. The health screening of the drivers is a welcome set and the latest body temperature of the driver can be shared before starting the journey.
 Room stays
A touch less booking and check-in will be followed. Before checking-in, the traveler can be asked to share his/her verifiable health credentials such as immunizations or their health status in their digital identity wallets. Sanitization of the rooms before and every stay will help the traveler feel safer. Since people may prefer staying in villas or separate cottages, travel apps may start giving information like the distance between the cottages and the different measures taken by the management to maintain social distancing.
Sightseeing tours
To support their tourism sectors, countries may purposefully restrict outward travel and encourage local tourism as a substitute. In essence, domestic travel and tourism will be expected to substitute foreign tourism demand, at least for the time being. Many destinations have turned to virtual reality and 360-degree content to inspire and attract travelers over the last several years. 
Online booking of place tickets and touchless methods of ticket verification will be preferred. Moreover, technology for touchless data-entry such as gesture control, touchless document scanning, and voice commands are already being tested. The use of thermal cameras to test the body temperature of the travelers can also be practiced.
Some people will avoid traveling and stay at home while there will be some with the travel bug who can’t suppress their love for traveling. Some people may have to travel for business or for medical reasons. This article primarily tries to allay the uncertainty from the life of the travelers.
