Reuniwatt presents « Expert Knowledge for Mega Solar Projects » Webinar Series

Reuniwatt, a leading company in the field of energy meteorology, is proud to present a series of live webinars on upcoming utility-scale solar concepts together with our project partners Voltalia, 8minute Solar Energy and Suntrace, aiming to deliver in-depth knowledge from the field.

Highly accurate weather data and solar power forecasts have proven essential for largescale solar projects, but they make only a part of a project’s success. This is why Reuniwatt and its webinar partners Voltalia, 8minute Solar Energy and Suntrace have decided to work together and present their lessons learned based on three exceptional projects.

Together with Voltalia, we will present a mega-scale project with unique features: Benban Solar Park in Egypt, with a total capacity of 1650 MWp. Our webinar Mega Solar Projects: Challenges of Grid Integration will explain the basics of how to integrate a mega project into the network (requirements of the network operator, compliance list, technical specifications) and encounter the challenges of a mega project (end of line issues, long distance energy export, ancillary services, as well as the climatic challenges in a desert area). We will provide helpful insights into forecasting to maintain the supply-demand balance, and discuss the criticality of the infrastructure and cybersecurity (OT/IT).

We are happy to present a second webinar focusing on an innovative "Dispatchable Solar" project in California, Springbok Solar Cluster, alongside its operator 8minute Solar Energy. This project is a milestone in the development of the 21st century grid : It includes a utility-scale solar power plant with a 1.5 MWh Li-ion battery, which aims at providing flexible solar power to the city of Los Angeles, and relies on the first implemented control solution for solar and storage systems based on MESA-ESS. Our work for this groundbreaking project has been honoured with a nomination as a finalist for The smarter E AWARD 2020 in the category « Outstanding Projects ».

Finally, together with our project partner Suntrace, we’re putting the focus on C&I off-grid mega projects. The 36MWp Fekola Solar Project will be one of the largest off-grid solar-battery-hybrid systems in the world. Together with Suntrace, we will share our experience from this remote project and its special requirements.
