In December 2011, Aupair World launched a donation campaign for refugees and children in East Africa. Ten per cent of a week's turnover were given to the UN Refugee Agency.

“We wish like to help where help is urgently needed”, Uwe Regenbogen, founder of Aupair World explains. Violence, drought and famine still force over 6,000 people from Somalia to flee to Kenya and Ethiopia every month. Children under the age of five, are in particular severely underfed.

In order to help those persons, Aupair World supported the UN Refugee Agency with a donation. Aupair World donated ten per cent of the money received from host families and au pairs who became Premium Members between 12 and 18 December to the children and refugees in East Africa.

The UN Refugee Agency received a total of 2,124 euros. “We are happy that many people contributed to the donation, thus helping children and refugees in East Africa,” Uwe Regenbogen commented.

According to the UN Refugee Agency, the agency is concerned with safeguarding and representing refugees' interests. It attends to many refugee camps and pursues the objective of protecting the lives of refugees.
