Press release from: Ward & Smith

/ PR Agency: Androvett Legal Media & Marketing
TYLER, Texas – The high-stakes business litigation and intellectual property law firm of Ward & Smith is announcing the firm’s new office in downtown Tyler, Texas.

“This office will help us better serve our many clients with intellectual property matters pending before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in Tyler and throughout the district,” says Ward & Smith founding partner T. John “Johnny” Ward Jr.

Located at 110 N. College, Suite 1118, Tyler, 75702, the new office is near the Eastern District headquarters, and will be staffed by a firm attorney two to three days per week. Office visits can be made by appointment only at 903-500-2750.

Ward & Smith’s new Tyler law office follows the recent news about former U.S. District Judge T. John Ward Sr. joining the firm after serving 12 years on the Eastern District bench.

Mr. Ward Sr. earned national acclaim for establishing the nimble “rocket docket” handling of intellectual property law cases in the Eastern District. Since leaving the bench, he has focused on oil & gas and complex commercial litigation matters in addition to his mediation practice.

Mr. Ward Sr. will be allowed to practice before his former colleagues in the Eastern District beginning in October 2012 under a local rule that restricts former judges from practicing before their former colleagues for one year. He currently is allowed to practice in the district’s Marshall Division before Judge Rodney Gilstrap following Judge Gilstrap’s recent U.S. Senate confirmation as the Eastern District’s newest judge.

“I’ve known Judge Gilstrap for 30 years, although he and I were not on the bench at the same time, and I’m looking forward to taking an active role in representing clients in his courtroom,” says Mr. Ward Sr.

Longview, Texas-based Ward & Smith has earned a national reputation in high-stakes cases involving complex commercial litigation, intellectual property law, oil & gas disputes, and serious personal injury claims. Ward & Smith frequently assists lawyers nationwide in complex cases before East Texas juries.
