Air Bagan launches daily Yangon-Bangkok flight

BANGKOK - Air Bagan, Myanmar’s first full private investment airline, has launched a daily flights to Bangkok from Yangon. The airline was the first in Myanmar to purchase two brand new Airbus A310-200 aircraft, one of which will operate on the Yangon-Bangkok route.

Agencies reported that the inaugural flight had 197 passengers on board after an ceremony attended by Air Bagan chairman Tay Za. Air Bagan announced plans to also service Bangladesh, India and South Korea in the near future.

The airline’s fleet now includes two Fokker F-100 aircraft, two ATR-72 aircraft and three ATR-42 turbo-props. The airline plans to purchase a 158-seat Airbus A-320 aircraft from Singapore in September to reinforce its international flights.

Launched in November 2004, Air Bagan operates domestic flights between Yangon and Mandalay, Nyaung U, Heho, Kyaing-Tong, Tachileik, Myitkyina, Putao, Dawei, Myeik, Kawthaung, Thandwe, Sittwe, Pathein, Nay Pyi Taw, Kalaymyo and Lashio.
