The Learning Alliance Awards Schools

Vero Beach, December 19, 2011 - At a recent meeting of the School Board of Indian River County, The Learning Alliance awarded elementary schools participating in evidence-based literacy programs. Principals from all 13 elementary schools were on hand to receive plaques commemorating the success achieved over the past year of hard work as well as the local philanthropists that have made the innovative programs possible.

Ray Oglethorpe, past president of AOL and board member of The Learning Alliance, praised the hard work of the teachers, who have rallied behind Dr. Fran Adam’s recent goal to have 90% of children reading on grade level by third grade. He remarked, “This is an aggressive goal that has energized the Vero Beach community… There is something magical going on here. Let’s keep the magic going!”
