Press release from: Cosmetic Town

Cosmetic surgery offices are currently dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the world. Many cosmetic surgery centers are currently closed due to "shelter in place" orders from state governments or due to the decision of the medical practitioner running the office. According to Cosmetic Town, a Los Angeles based online plastic surgery and information community, the closure of cosmetic surgery offices across the country has left many patients confused about the impact of coronavirus on cosmetic surgery procedures.
According to the senior editor of Cosmetic Town, "COVID-19 has had a major impact on the cosmetic surgery industry. Because of the different rules put in place by each state, some patients are able to visit a medical office for a procedure while others live in states where doctors have voluntarily closed their offices in order to follow guidelines set forth by their government leaders. Our news team shares what patients need to know about COVID-19 and cosmetic surgery in our news section. Patients that are concerned about having a cosmetic procedure at this time should call the office of their doctor. Besides making sure the office is open and treating patients, they should ask what precautions the office is taking to prevent the spread of coronavirus and if there are any reported cases among the staff or in the building where the office is located. In addition, the medical staff should determine if a patient has a fever when they arrive at the office. If so, the patient should be sent home out of safety concerns."
Cosmetic Town News also reached out to Dr. Parsa Mohebi, a hair restoration specialist in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and San Francisco, for his expert opinion on the subject of COVID-19 and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Mohebi said, "Social distancing is critical since keeping a safe distance from others can greatly reduce the spread of the disease. In addition, medical offices should follow guidelines that require their staff to wear facial masks to prevent the spread of germs and medical gloves to lessen the amount of physical contact between patients and doctors. It should be noted that cosmetic procedures are considered to be elective procedures so doctors and patients should schedule a consultation to determine if it is necessary to perform the treatment at this time in states where cosmetic surgery offices are still open."
When asked how doctors can stay connected with patients at this time, Dr. Mohebi said many medical offices are "providing online consultation services and replying to emails to maintain a conversation with patients. These services, even though they might seem minimal, give patients an outlet to ask questions as well as receive the answers they want to know about cosmetic surgery during a time when many medical offices are closed for public safety."
