Moderate Gains for U.S. Market Predicted by Global Partners Securities

The bulk of American financial analysts maintain high expectations for continued domestic economic recovery. While the crisis in Europe has tempered some initial enthusiasm, the fact remains that so many strong U.S. companies are now operating at almost unheard of price to earnings ratios. These companies are in solid financial positions, whether they hold on to their liquid assets or use them for expansion, hiring, research and development or acquisition.

While forecasts vary wildly, most analyst expect the market to end 2011 at least 7 percent up from its current level. “The S and P Index has gone down over the last 6 month period, but a fair share of that can be attributed to fear over the economic impact of the euro zone crisis. As the European situation reaches a resolution, and the recent maneuvers by the Central Banks appear to be a very large step in the right direction, the domestic stock market will react accordingly. U.S. stock prices will go up," stated William Oswalt, a senior financial analyst at New York’s Global Partners Securities.

“We recognize that U.S. stocks have been on a bit of a rollercoaster ride over the last couple of months. Even so, there’s no getting around the fact that, by any objective standard, so many of these stocks are still grossly undervalued. A lot of the fears that we’re currently seeing are disproportionate to the actual risks involved,” continued Oswalt. “While domestic unemployment is still at an uncomfortably high level, many U.S. companies are flush with unprecedented cash reserves. Corporate balance sheets, on the whole, are as strong or stronger than they’ve ever been. While we’re not expecting 2012 to be a record breaking year, across the boards, we do see enough positive indicators to be confident that 2012 will yield at least moderate gains for well-informed investors in the American markets.”
