New York City, NY, November 18, 2011 -- At the upcoming Institute for Supply Management’s 4th Annual Sustainability and Social Responsibility Conference (Orlando, FL, November 7 – 8), sustainability consultant Robert Kuhn, president of Kuhn Associates Management Advisors, LLC, will host a one-and-a-half hour “Sustainability Café” session entitled “Sustainability 2.0 – Going Beyond Eco-Efficiency” using the World Cafe platform.

The interactive discussion session will explore issues related to the medium- and long-term aspects of corporate sustainability, at a time when many companies are exhausting opportunities to exploit additional efficiencies from their buildings, their people, their processes and their products. Kuhn says his hope for the session is to encourage participants to engage in meaningful discussion about:

The intersection between innovation and sustainability in the context of the supply chain.

The potentially disruptive nature that advanced concepts in sustainability can have on existing business models and the implications for supply chain management.

The impact that future work in sustainability will often involve aligning entire enterprises around the concept might have on the careers and professional development paths of supply chain managers.

The role that supply chain management will play in the creation of new products and new markets based primarily on sustainability.

The World Café format, because it relies on authentic, engaging discussion in a relaxed setting, is a perfect approach to these topics. At the end of the session, Kuhn will synthesize information gathered from the discussion round-tables and present his take-aways to the group.
