Alix Cope Discusses Bazar - The Ethical Life Marketplace Goes Live

After many months in the planning, Bazar - the Ethical Life Marketplace went live on Friday 19th March 2020. At a time where the world is struggling with the global COVID-19 pandemic, the launch of the Bazar app was some welcome news to the ethical lifestyle community.

We video-conferenced with Alix Cope the Co-Founder of Bazar to hear her thoughts on the launch of the App. We asked Alix "So, why should buyers and sellers download the app?"

Alix replied "Well, first of all, the app is free, is easy to download and takes just a few minutes to install. It's also available in both iOS and Android formats. As for the app itself, it's good for the planet, offering a wide range of both unique and interesting products from a range of ethical brands. We designed the app with developing a community in mind, the spirit of the community is vital, we seek like-minded members to get involved with one another - to chat and connect, communicate with each other and post articles, etc."

Alix went on to say "The app is designed equally with buyers and sellers of sustainable, ethical, pre-loved and eco-friendly products in mind. Bazar supports both buying locally and also buying British - especially with our "Make the Switch" campaign. As can be seen, when viewing the infographic, there is a lot to digest. One part of the infographic focuses on product category areas, which are:
o Eco-friendly - biodegradable, natural label, organic, palm oil free and pesticide free
o Ethical - cruelty free, Fairtrade, Fair Wear and vegan
o Sustainable - products which help to protect the sustainability of resources
o Pre-loved - recyclable and second hand

Commenting on the above, Alix said "These are high-level categories. We recommend that everybody downloads the app to view our extensive range of products. It's also worth mentioning that Bazar pledges 1% of sales commission revenue to our Bees, Trees and Seas partners - such as One Tree Planted. Indeed, quite a number of our members have their own "give back" schemes too."

In finishing, we felt it was only right to ask Alix about the Coronavirus pandemic. We asked Alix "The Coronavirus pandemic is creating a massive impact on society. Can the Bazar app help boost the economic spirits of businesses and also help housebound isolated people?" Alix replied, "Yes it can! The Bazar can help both buyers and sellers alike - our app can connect them together. At the heart of the app is the communication tools I've previously talked about - members can communicate with one another whilst keeping their social distance.

Sellers who own retail shops, visit trade fairs and craft shows will have lost that income, but they can create a new effective income channel through Bazar, by uploading all their products in minutes. For buyers wanting to "Buy British", they can support our local artisans in their "greatest hour of need", through buying products directly through Bazar. Sellers provide delivery to the doorstep, so there's no need for anybody to leave their homes.

Another opportunity is for some of our buyers to become sellers by decluttering. Many of us have an unusual amount of time on our hands. Now is a classic chance for "spring cleaning", by selling pre-loved items, which is a green-friendly initiative too and also has the incentive of providing some extra much-needed income at such a hard economic time."

Bazar is "literally" a brand new app launched to the market, which has the aim of connecting buyers and sellers of ethical products together in a vibrant community.
