Sweet Streets and WWA gallery Team up to Present a Rockin Group Show
On View: November 19th - December 23rd, 2011
Sweet Streets curates another vibrant and event-filled group exhibition transporting Japanese Art and Fashion to WWA gallery. Previous Sweet Sreets exhibits packed the house, make sure to come early so you don't miss out!
Guests will enjoy a fresh mix of talented artists fusing Japanese and LA styles, live music, fashion shows and up-to-the-minute merchandise flown in direct from Japan by Spank! exclusively for this show.
In the 80s, Japanese and American pop culture drew inspiration from one another. Hello Kitty and Anime permeated the US, while Japan got a taste of MTV and the bubblegum pop playfulness of My Little Pony and Care Bears.
This Sweet Streets exhibition will explore the symbiotic relationship between American and Japanese 80s pop culture and its continuing influence today through art, fashion and music.
Participating artists include: 64 Colors, Apak, Bei Badgirl, Casey Weldon, Chikuwaemil, Eimi, Fawn Gehweiler, HIME+YOU, Keisuke Saito, Ken Garduno, Kevin Marburg, Koralie, Luke Chueh, Madoka Kinoshita, Maria Finna, MARKiii, Martin Hsu, Mayumi Inoha, Misha, MISO, Miss Kika, Mizna Wada, Natalie Shau, Plasticgod, Sheryo, Shigetomo, Shojono Tomo, Suzuki Suzuma, Yoshimi Ohtani, yucachin', Yumiko Kayukawa, and more!
Featuring a pop-up shop with collaborations and exclusives by: Spank! x Shojono Tomo, Spank! x Chubby Bunny, and Onch Movement!
Open to the public, the Sweet Streets gallery reception is from 7 - 10pm on Saturday, November 19th. The exhibition will run until December 23rd, 2011.
