SGS Presents Stone CE Certification Alliance List

On October 18, 2011 SGS successfully announced the authentication information list of stone CE certification alliance members comprising of enterprises which have obtained CE certification for their stone products from SGS. The stone CE certification alliance, established by the SGS laboratory for natural stone and homogeneous material in Xiamen, China, aims at protecting the interests of buyers and sellers, regulating the stone CE certification market, and helping to improve the international competitiveness of authentication products and enterprises.

The Certificate of Conformity Europe (CE Mark) is a seal that indicates that the product to which it is affixed is in conformance with EU Product Safety Directives, which apply to all products that are put into service for the first time within the European Economic Area. SGS responded to the fact that the European Community has required most stone products to bear the CE mark since 2007, by opening its laboratory for natural stone and homogeneous material in Xiamen, China on August 7, 2009. The lab has saved local and international trading companies a lot of time and money as they do not have to send samples for testing and certification abroad. Moreover, the availability of a third-party inspection, testing, verification and certification company has also facilitated the international trading of domestic products to a significant degree.

To date, in 2011, SGS has issued CE certificates for stone products to more than 250 enterprises and 80% of CE certificates obtained in Xiamen were issued by SGS. Following this enormous success, the SGS laboratory for natural stone and homogeneous material in Xiamen, China, established the stone CE certification alliance with the aim to protect the interests of buyers and sellers, regulate the stone CE certification market, and help to improve the international competitiveness of authentication products and enterprises.

On October 18, 2011 SGS successfully presented the list of the first CE certification alliance members comprising of enterprises which have obtained CE certification for their stone products issued by SGS as well as the authentication information list of products which received the CE Mark from SGS.
