Crete, one of the most beautiful and impressive islands in the mediterranean sea is no longer a blind spot on sailor´s map for bareboat sailingboat and motorboat yachtcharters! Since this month, a new chartercompany with many years of experience opened it´s base in the Marina of Aghios Nikolaos on the northeastern coast. The airport of Heraklion is only 1,5 hrs transfer time. From Aghios Nikolaos one can discover the southern coast of Crete with unspoiled typical little ports and bays. The northern coast offers a few marina-like ports like Sitia, Heraklion, Rethimno and the impressing Chania, which are as well very good starting ports for a trip into the southern aegean sea to the cycladic islands, like Santorini (Thira), Ios, Milos. The first day from Crete up to Milos or Santorin of 70-85 nm seems to be la long distance , but the advantage is, that these trips are mostly on a very comfortable halfwind course and the same back, which avoides the trouble making upwind return trips if one starts from Athens!
