In 2019, China's mask industry output value is about 10.2 billion yuan, and the total mask production exceeds 5 billion. As the epidemic situation in China is gradually under control, mask companies in China have resumed work, the capacity utilization rate of the mask industry in China has reached 110%, and the daily output has reached 116 million.

However, according to WHO estimates, there is a serious shortage of personal protection resources such as global masks, disposable gloves, and goggles, and the current consumption is more than 100 times the usual. Therefore, the shortage of global masks is an unavoidable problem. To meet growing global demand, WHO estimates that the supply of personal protective equipment must increase by 40% globally. Governments should encourage related industries to increase production.

The upstream of the mask industry is mainly polypropylene (PP), polyester and other raw material suppliers. The midstream is PP non-woven fabrics, melt blown fabrics, nose bridge strips, ear band material manufacturers and the manufacturers of mask sheeting machines, mask belt spot welding machines and mask packaging machine. The downstream industry chain is mainly major factories, hospitals and ordinary consumers.
