Shell adopts the Local Content Model for its Global Operations
In September Shell adopted the Local Content Model being applied in Nigeria for use in its global operations.They have chosen the immediate past General Manager, Nigerian Content Development, Shell Nigeria, Simbi Wabote to implement the Local Content Model.
Ernest Nwapa, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB) said,
“It is significant that Shell found it necessary to take the Nigerian Content model being implemented in Nigeria and implant it in their global system. That tells us that what we are doing here is effective and we want to show the world that if Shell says this implementation model is effective, then it is effective."
“It is through Nigerian Content Development that this industry and country can be transformed and industrialized.”
Simbi Wabote commended the Nigerian Content Monitoring & Development Board for the achievements it has documented in the implementation of the Act, significantly the development of local capacity and creation of over 30,000 direct and indirect jobs.
