WHY:
“At PSA, we are truly committed to growing and protecting the assets of our clients. That’s why we’ve decided to partner with Incred-A-Shred and the Fallston Group to help those in our community safeguard their identities,” says Chip Lewis, Managing Director of PSA Insurance & Financial Services. “Having the proceeds from our event going to support House Of Ruth Maryland will make the day a true win. What better way to live our mission while giving back to the community?”

IDENTITY THEFT BACKGROUND
Identity theft is a very serious issue that impacts all of us. Maryland is ranked 9th in per capita ID theft complaints to the FTC with 83 per 100,000 population (4784 total.) The average victim loses $2104 to ID theft; the average loss to business: $29,162. That’s why PSA Insurance & Financial Services has strategically partnered with Incred-A-Shred to raise the level of identity theft awareness and promote the steps people and organizations can take to reduce their risk.

“Businesses are required by law to shred documents containing the personal information of their employees,” says Jeff Rupp, President of Incred-A-Shred. “Homeowners also need to take steps to protect their personal information by shredding their financial and other sensitive papers. No data recovery software in the world will be able to retrieve the confidential data shredded during this event.”

CHARITY PARTNER
Incred-A-Shred has pledged to donate all proceeds from the event to House Of Ruth Maryland whose mission it is to lead the fight to end violence against women and their children by confronting the attitudes, behaviors and systems that perpetuate it, and by providing victims with the services necessary to rebuild their lives safely and free of fear. "The House Of Ruth Maryland is excited to be the beneficiary of this great event! We truly appreciate the support from PSA Financial & Insurance Services and Incred-A-Shred and we applaud their efforts to prevent identity theft," says Sandi Timmins, Executive Director, House Of Ruth Maryland. This event is particularly important for House Of Ruth Maryland because October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
