Implementation of International Standards on Prohibition of Worst Forms of Child Labour

Uzbekistan consistently implements international standards of ILO in the sphere of prevention and prohibition of child labour, and secured by law reliable mechanisms for protection of child rights in the sphere of labour on the following directions:

Firstly, any enforcement to labour is prohibited constitutionally and the State guaranties are envisaged for protection of child labour;

Secondly, Law “On Guarantees of Child Rights” foresees appropriate definitions, in particular, it stipulates that a child is a person under 18 years old and this definition applies to all boys and girls under the age of 18;

Thirdly, labour legislation foresees minimum age of employment as 16 years old and strictly defines exceptional cases, and covers conditions of labour and preferences granted to persons who are under 18 years old;

Fourthly, Law “On fighting with Human Trafficking” foresees mechanisms of counteractions to any forms of exploitation of human, including enforcement of child to labour and criminal activity;

Fifthly, criminal legislation foresees higher liability for involving child to illegal activity;

Sixthly, in 2001 was adopted the list of types of labour activity in which involving of children under 18 is prohibited;

Seventhly, in 2009 administrative liability was introduced for use of child labour in works with adverse conditions.
