Manage your daily radio schedule with Airtime 1.9.4

Airtime 1.9.4 has been released with new DEB packages for Ubuntu and Debian that keep installations automatically updated with the latest version. Airtime is Sourcefabric’s open source radio software for scheduling, automation and remote station management via any web browser. It can be downloaded free from http://www.airtime.sourcefabric.org

Powering stations like London’s Resonance FM, Senegal’s West Africa Democracy Radio and Canada’s NationTalk, Airtime platforms have been receiving industry acclaim including a Knight-Batten Award for Innovations in Journalism. Airtime is also a finalist in the Packt Open Source Multimedia Software Awards 2011 alongside Blender, GIMP and Inkscape.

“I think we can safely say this is the most rigorously tested version of Airtime ever,” said Sourcefabric’s Chief Technical Officer Paul Baranowski. “We thoroughly tested 64 different ways of installing and upgrading across a range of operating systems and package options. It all means greater stability and ease of use for radio stations and paves the way for further feature development.”

The Airtime 1.9 series adds a new file storage system with ‘watch’ folders, allowing stations to magically synchronise files and to easily browse their audio archives, as well as Shoutcast support, improved front-end widgets, and extensive bug-fixes.

Sourcefabric believes in quality, independent journalism. We provide news organisations with the software, expertise and support to produce it online, in print and on air.

Sourcefabric is established as a Czech non-profit organisation with its headquarters in Prague, branches in Berlin and Toronto, and representatives in Minsk, Guatemala, Warsaw, Belgrade and Cluj. It started life as CAMP in 1998, the new-media arm of the Media Development Loan Fund. In 2010 it launched as a wholly autonomous organisation securing private funding that propelled Sourcefabric into the ranks of one of the largest European open source projects for news and media.
