Leading corporate gifts supplier Shirtworks reports shift in seasonal promotional product buying patterns caused by UK weather changes

"Shirtworks has a lot of data to draw upon since the 1980's, as we have large number of corporate gift and promotional product clients, along with companies who order customised workwear every year," said Arron Harnden, MD for Shirtworks. "Over the last four years, we've noticed that certain types of workwear, such as branded waterproof jackets for example, are being ordered much earlier in the year as our summers have been so wet. There's also been an increase in customised workwear geared towards extremes of weather, such as ice and snow, at levels we simply haven't seen before."

"The summers over the last few years have been very unreliable in terms of fine weather," Arron continued. "We're noticing a shift in branded corporate giveaway buying as a result, with fewer Frisbees being ordered, but more branded yo-yo's! It might sound frivolous, but I think these micro-trends are quite revealing, as yo-yo's can be enjoyed whatever the weather, but Frisbees are only taken out on sunny days." When asked if these seasonal buying trend changes are a problem for Shirtworks, Arron replied, "Not at all, it balances out in the end, we just have to keep on our toes and not predict surges in demand on traditional weather patterns. Now April seems to have a mini heat-wave, June and July seem to be so much wetter and the winter much colder, we simply have to adapt like everyone else."
